Apparently, they rewrote the history of Johnny/Sue saying that Johnny was adopted, so they’re adopted siblings.

Actually, I believe it was Sue who was adopted. Their father was black.

The mother was dead or otherwise out of the picture. The dad was rich and owned the lab they worked in. I saw it once when it came out but I don't recall that backstory very well. It's mentioned she's adopted in the movie, but race never comes up.

I was actually surprised to learn that people get the four Chrises confused. They look nothing alike to me really. Chris' SNL monologue was very funny though.
