Nope, no mention of it. I think when we found out Sam became a Maester Jon was already on his way to the Wall.

They had such a great development of friendship. I like how Jon was sympathetic regarding Sam but not that embracing until he found out Sam's history

And yet in S8 I don't understand why Jon was neutral to Sam when he was telling him that his family died in the hands of Dany.

^ he at least would've been a bit more sympathetic towards Sam's feelings. It didn't make sense because even though Starks are all about loyalty, at that moment Daenerys was fighting to become queen, she wasn't the one yet, so Sam's father was loyal till the end which was something Jon should've at least respect
