If his hair didn't have a "contract" then we wouldn't be shocked (or getting used to) the shorter looks he's donning now.

Yeah Also, I think Kit is the type of actor that wouldn't have cut the hair because of the role, even if there wasn't a contract.

That is true. Hopefully in his future roles he won't have to have a certain look to keep for a long period of time. Unless he got cast lead in another (new) popular TV show in the future.
