Lindsay - I totally understand how your cousins feel! If you live in the city you can only do sparklers You have to be outside the city limits to do any kind of fun firework that isn't' a sparkler.

We can only do sparklers now and firecrackers are prohibited but some people still get away with it. I remember they were legal when I was a kid and it was scary cause I feel like there's a war going on outside our house every New Years Eve.

Yes those types of firecrackers are so scary!! It does sound like a war because they sound like gunfire when they go off.

We always go and watch the fireworks at another location though. A lot of cities and counties do their own fireworks which are really fun to watch.

It was crazy when I was a kid. It has tamed now but I remember there would be a haze of smoke in the garage (and inside the house too) when the fireworks die down every New Years Eve. Lucky for us in the family, we don't have asthma or other breathing problems, it was really terrible.

My other problem with New Years Eve are the dogs. They're always so clingy and scared when the fireworks go off. I literally have to play a Spotify playlist (calming music for dogs) so they don't get anxiety.

yeah I have heard other people say the same thing about their dogs as well. Hope your dogs don't get too upset this year when they are going off.

I took my first exam this morning, I think I did alright...it was my toughest class this semester. I'm off tomorrow, going to hopefully use the day to study and finish papers. I have 3 more finals this week then I get to go home for two months! And I should be back and posting regularly on friday.

Hi everyone! Mom's surgery went well yesterday. I just spoke to her and for some reason she developed a 101º fever last night. I don't understand because she's been on so many antibiotics. Plus, I was with her all day yesterday...around 12 hours, and she didn't have a fever before I left.

I'm going to take a shower and get back over to the hospital.

I'm sorry. I'll try to post later, possibly from the hospital if I can.

Deborah - glad that your mom's surgery went well. So sorry she has started running a fever I hope the Doctor's can figure out what is going on and help her get it down. You should totally focus on your mom and don't worry about the board or posting Rita and I will be fine while your mom recovers from surgery and her fever

I still feel terrible. It's good that I've done all of my christmas orders at work and I don't start work until New Year now. I would rather be ill now than on Christmas day

I got no sleep last night. I woke up early this morning to submit my paper, then after that I had a few hours to kill but I got sick. I was feeling a bit better after that but then I had to go take another final which killed me. It was two essays and man is my hand aching. I have two more finals to go then I get to go home! I have an 8am final tomorrow morning, then a final at 10:30 on friday.

Deborah - hope your mom's fever breaks soon and that if she needs blood the transfusion goes smoothly. Please keep up updated on how she is doing. We are hoping for a full recovery soon.
