I never knew the story about the painting. After watching the episode, I looked it up cause I thought perhaps it was a fictionalized story written to showcase John Lithgow's performance. Very surprised to find out it was true that Churchill loathe the painting with a passion and it indeed was purposefully destroyed in a fire.

Fascinating stuff.
