I think nowadays its might have been accepted by the royal family. I mean, Meghan Markle is a divorcee and it’s accepted. It was so sad that Margaret and Peter never got their chance

Maybe part of the reason the queen had to say no was because she hadn’t been queen for that long and there was a lot of pressure on her to “play by the rules”.
