I re-watched this episode and wow, I remembered that this is probably my favorite episode of the entire series.
The whole thing with Sutherland, the painter, and his exchange/bonding moments with Churchill was so well acted and very touching. Churchill seeing his painting was the last straw for him and finally made him decide to step down. I teared up when Elizabeth was giving him a speech and Churchill was crying looking at his wife Clementine. Elizabeth's speech was also a subtle way of her expressing her feelings to Philip as she kept looking at him when she made that speech (and him saying "I'm sorry" to her across the table crushed my heart) which brings me to the angst of this ep. Philip & Elizabeth. I get that he's bored and is always leaving the palace because of it but damn it, Elizabeth waited for him to come home and couldn't sleep. He comes home at night drunk. And then he goes off about Porchie, getting jealous about the direct line and assuming that his wife is smitten with him. Their argument in the car (which we didn't see) was telling because obviously they can't argue in public and even with Philip's scathing remarks about Porchie at the stable, Elizabeth kept her composure. So that speech of Elizabeth to Philip in the end about only loving him and no one else broke my heart for her because she did love him and this is what she gets from him. It's frustrating and sad. __________________

Great scene! I love how Churchill didn't view himself as that old

I don't think anyone considers themselves old no matter what their age is
