That must be hard to put work before your private life because most people put their private life before their work.

Though this isn't a 'normal job'

Yeah. this job certainly comes with a lot of expectation and pressure to put duty first. It's kind of frustrating when her own family doesn't understand that.

Re-watched this a while ago and wow. What a way to end the season, surely.

I already don't like Anthony Eden and while he's more sympathetic to Peter & Margaret's dilemma than Churchill was (because he himself is a divorcee), he's still going down a dark path with his addiction to painkillers.

Also, for the rest of the season, I didn't like Margaret so much because I feel like the entire season her SL was just Peter. But in this ep, I feel so sad for her. She loved Peter and I think Margaret wanted Elizabeth to use her power as the monarch to help with her marriage to Peter but at the same time, she also failed to see that it puts her sister on a bind with the Church of England. That last shot of Margaret drinking with a group of men with a far away look on her face really made me sad because she has to break up with him so everything will be fine. That hurts but that's the sacrifice she makes for being a part of the royal family.

I laughed out loud when the archbishops came to Buckingham and Elizabeth's private secretary called them "the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse" in-front of Elizabeth. I also laughed when Margaret was telling Peter that she'll never marry again.

Also, I get a vibe from this ep that Philip was 'sent away' to Australia so that he can spend time away and really think about his role in the Queen's life + being a husband to Elizabeth. When he saw the announcement about Peter & Margaret's break-up in the news, that kind of solidified his decision to go through the tour even if he's still strongly against it. It was 5 months away from the family, that's a lot to take in.

Also the paparazzi are savage. This is a foreshadowing of things to come for the Royal family in the future.

yeah being a part of monarch does demand of lot of them, but in return they get to live an extravagant lifestyle where they never have to worry about money and have tons of servants to take care of their every need. In a perfect world you would have all the perks but non of the responsibilities. I am sure it's really hard to be a part of the royal family but hopefully the perks outweigh the sacrifices in the end.

You can only hope that it's the case yes!

I still think this end scene of the ep had a really dark sense about it... I really wonder if the new season starts off that dark

I was just talking about this with my mom, that I'd actually rather have a nice relationship with the family members than living in all luxury and having to worry about all these decisions cause apart from them getting to travel occasionally and to live in a palace, they don't really have the opportunity to try out things their money could allow them sure, they never have to worry about starving and things like that but is it an enjoyable life in the end?

I don't think they can do things that have risk.. I only know the royal family travels to Scotland from time to time... but I'm not sure they travel for fun that much
