Well the court would grant Mary custody, but I feel like John would have fought for them because of what she did.

It depends on whether John used what he knew in court or not.

That's true; courts tend to rule in favor of the mother and I do think John would fight for them but I wonder if Mary would even want custody or if she'd give them up to John considering that she liked going on hunts.

I can actually see Mary giving up custody actually, since I doubt she cared about the boys to really fight for them

Eventually. And I'm thinking if Mary got custody of the kids, and she didn't give 'em up, with her hunting I'm sure John could ask for their custody on a basis of neglect (her leaving them to go hunt)
