He wanted to die because of the amount of pain he was in, so I guess he was greatful. What Clarke did was merciful.

Tbh though, not even his death was about him, that was a huge Bellarke moment

Would have been interesting though if we got to see more of Atom, especially cause of these twos friendship

It's probably the one moment I started to really respect this show

I've been thinking about the earlier question of how Atom would have fared or developed had he not died. I'm going to be really mean now and say that I think his acting chops are not quite up to par with everyone elses. He seems like a super sweet guy but maybe he couldn't do much more with what he was given... just saying

But his death scene will live on as one the moments in season 1

I'll agree with you there. What was he in... was he in just the one episode? Maybe had he been given more content, his skills would have further developed and been showcased. At the end of the day perhaps he was just written in to show this other side of Clarke, with the mercy kill? (Honestly I hate saying that because I don't like the excuse that one character is used to prop up another. ) I'd have been interested in seeing why he was imprisoned.
