^I believe that Sandy wanted to be forgiven for having sex with Martin.

Martin was younger than she was, so SHE should've been even more responsible than he was. She slept with a guy from High School when she was in college... so I think she feels more bad for herself for ever allowing that to even happen.

Season 11, Episode 1 will explore more why Sandy slept with Martin as well...
