Episode Description:

The boys learn the girl's name is Eleven, which is tattooed on her arm; they nickname her "El". Scientists from the laboratory find a substance oozing from the walls of Joyce's home. At Mike's home, El recognizes Will in a photo. She uses psychokinesis to lock the door and prevent Dustin and Lucas from informing Mike's parents about her. Searching for Will, Hopper discovers a torn piece of El's hospital gown outside the laboratory grounds. Nancy goes with her friend Barb to a party at her boyfriend Steve's house. Will's brother, Jonathan, investigates his disappearance, photographing the woods where Will went missing. Hearing screaming, he runs and sees Steve, Nancy, and their friends in Steve's swimming pool, and he photographs them. Barb vanishes from the poolside. Joyce receives another call from Will, hears music from his room, and sees something coming through the wall.

Dustin is so funny, what a great character.

Him imitating Eleven taking off her dress was hilarious.

I liked getting so much of Eleven this episode, and discovering more about her. Her father is the guy in charge of the lab etc? Definitely makes you wonder why she was locked up and what they are doing.

Things got more interesting this episode discovering that Eleven knew Will somehow. I also enjoyed the scenes with Joyce and lights, that was a bit freaky.

I liked watching Nancy with her friends let loose a bit and have fun. Those were fun scenes.

The ending with Barb!

I really hope the Dr. isn´t her real father. But it is creepy to hear her calling him "Daddy". Especially because it makes it seem like she spend all her life inside that lab

i like when mike and eleven are first home alone together and they are starting to bond and getting to know each other.

Johnathan listening to the radio and thinking about his brother. bonding over the clash

i didnt realize that the "government" was eavesdropping on everyone in hawkings phonecalls.

the search party, one of the police officers asked if hopper and joyce used to screw

mike first telling lucas and dustin about el being in trouble and how she knows will and the people who are after her are the ones who took will. and lucas is against this plan and wants to tell their parents. el slams the door shut and locks it. tells them no

i like when she asks later what a friend is. and lucas tells her what a spit swear is. and the look on dustin's face when lucus spits in his hand

Johnathan was a bit of a creeper with his camera at the end of this episode

Even though this is a re-watch, these are very close to what went through my head the first time I watched the episode...

The guys trying to figure out who Eleven was and what they should do about her was entertaining, especially the part where she tried to get naked in front of them and they all freaked out.
Why is Hawkins Lab listening in on other people's phone calls? What's their endgame? And how is Will's disappearance connected to whatever is going on at the lab? They are all sorts of shady.
How does Eleven know about Will? I am so curious to find out if/how Eleven's escape and Will's disappearance are connected.
I felt Joyce's anguish when she got another phone call. What is going on at the Byers house?
I love seeing the bond between the kids, especially Mike and Eleven. I am looking forward to seeing more of the kids together.
I get more and more intrigued by Eleven with every episode.
Something snatched Barbara! What is happening?!

that damn thing is like a shark, smelling blood from miles away. creepy AF

gotta be careful even with paper cuts...

seeing lil Eleven being tortured at that damn facility again is just so unbearable

that poor child

and she was so surprised that Mike actually got back to her in the closet and it's how she learned what a promise is because those psycho bastards at the lab probably never kept their word

^ I know! It breaks my heart every time I see Eleven in the closet.

I did love how Mike showed her that she could trust that he would not break his promise to her.

I think you're right about that. They probably promised her lots of things and they didn't keep their word.

Even though we got more information in this episode, I liked it a tad less than the premiere.

Nancy talking to Jonathan when the others were being rude was sweet.

Poor Hopper when Joyce mentioned his daughter.

I felt bad for Barb, her friend just sorta ditched her to be with Steve. And of course, being taken at the end was sad too.

Jonathan taking photos was a tad creepy lol.

I dont think so. I felt bad for Hopper but he was being a bit flippant about Will disappearing. She was trying to make him understand how she felt. If his daughter were missing he'd be losing his mind too.
