i'm not quite sure if this should go here or not....but this is something to look for and watch if you haven't done so alreay...

i'd like to mention a documentary that others, who post to this board. might be interested in.....the name of that film is 'murderball'.....a film that is getting good word of mouth...yet being almost entirely ignored at the few theaters that it's playing at......i was lucky enough to have seen it a few weeks ago in one of those theaters.....perhaps others will take the time to watch this inspirational film once it's released on dvd....

The notion of quadriplegic athletes may be unimaginable to some, but Murderball shows that they can be as great as any. The film chronicles these men as they overcome unimaginable obstacles to become world-class athletes. "Murderball" (aka quad rugby) combines the finesse of soccer with the bone-jarring collisions of a demolition derby. The athletes use custom wheelchairs that look like something out of a Mad Max movie. Players careen around the court with reckless abandon, slamming into each other, fueled by an unrivaled competitive spirit. Their ultimate goal is to win a gold medal at the Paralympics. Team USA has dominated the sport for years. But when Joe Soares, a gold medalist in 1996 and one of the best ever to play the sport, gets cut from the team, he becomes coach of Team Canada with one goal: beat Team USA at the 2004 Athens games. What follows is a roller-coaster ride of human drama, athletic excellence, and heart-stopping competition that couldn't have been scripted any better.

In the wake of two high-profile dramas that address quadriplegics' right to die, the documentary "Murderball" is a bracing tonic that offers ample evidence of life after paralysis, without the hushed reverence the subject usually inspires. But this portrait of a few of the stars of quad rugby, a take-no-prisoners sport originally known as Murderball, is about much more than disability or even the high-impact wheelchair game itself. With its vivid protagonists and multiple story strands, the film is at least as powerful as last year's exquisite "The Sea Inside" and far more satisfying than the overrated "Million Dollar Baby."
....

why is 'murderball' being shunned??....read this article to find out why.....

watch the trailer here...
