Be careful in talking about a person's looks, everyone.

Speaking of "sports" that aren't really sports... what is with there being a World Series of Poker? Some sports can at least be called sports on some level, but I don't get how picking up playing cards on a table = World Series. Ech.

But that H2H record is so skewed its not even funny. 9 of Nadal's wins are on clay, Nadals best surface. How do you think Nadal made it so far in the rankings in the first place? The players' record against each other would be a bit closer had Nadal actually reached more grass and hard court finals. Roger has beaten Nadal on clay. Nadal has beaten Roger once on grass (Im not even going to talk about that final).. You could look at it another way. Roger has a winning record against Nadal on grass and hardcourts..but..whatever..

Its absurd that the clay season of tennis has several Master events, while grass has NONE (Im not sure if that is an UO). And I'm sure if Nadal And Uncle Toni had their way, they would forget the hardcourt season and just play more clay events.

Anyways..back to more UO..uhmm..

One of my least favourite events at the Olympics is gymnastics
HARD:

2004 Miami AMS R32 Nadal 6-3 6-3

2005 Miami AMS F Federer 2-6 6-7(4) 7-6(5) 6-3 6-1

2006 Dubai F Nadal 2-6 6-4 6-4

2006 Tennis Masters Cup S Federer 6-4 7-5

2007 Tennis Masters Cup S Federer 6-4 6-1

H2H: 3-2 Federer.

GRASS:

2006 Wimbledon Grass F Federer 6-0 7-6(5) 6-7(2) 6-3
2007 Wimbledon Grass F Federer 7-6(7) 4-6 7-6(3) 2-6 6-2
2008 Wimbledon Grass F Nadal 6-4 6-4 6-7(5) 6-7(8) 9-7

H2H: 2-1 Federer.

CLAY:

The clay H2H is humiliating almost: 9-1 in favor of Nadal!!. This year's Roland Garros finals as most shocking outcome: 6-1 6-3 6-0. He bagelled Federer!

Nadal is oh-so much closer to Federer on hard court and grass than Federer the other way around. And let's not forget... Nadal is 5 years younger than Federer and has already five times the Slams Federer had then. Give the kid time to grow on who knows what can happen.

I'm usually not so in awe of a tennis player but I became a hardcore Nadal fan after the Wimbledon final. That mental strenght left me deeply impressed. I won't be surprised if he'll turn out to be a strong number one.

Not wanting to butt in too much but:

What I keep saying!

It's an unpopular opinion, but without denying Fed is one of the GOAT Nadal is the more accomplished player at his age than Federer was at 22. It'll be interesting to see how develops.

The H2H has so many clay meetings because that is Nadals BEST surface. Why do you think they havent met as much on the other surfaces? Because Nadal didnt even MAKE it to meet Federer in the final. I'm sorry, the H2H is severely skewed

Clay is thought to be Roger's worst surface. And yet he has been to the FO final 3 straight years..Roger has bageled Nadal on clay before...Nadal has yet to bagel Roger on Hard or Grass. So that whole Bagel thing is not a good arguement..but whatever.

Athletes peak at different times in their careers. Roger didnt win his first slam till he was what, 22? And then what happened? He has 12 slams in 5 years.. Nadal has 5 slams in 4 years..4 of which are the FO.

Nadal's gamestyle is brutal, not only to watch, but on his body. Fed will be able to play tennis into his 30's..I can't see Nadal being able to that. He will burn himself out.

I'm going to only comment on this bc I don't want things to get too ugly.

Rafa himself has said the injury concern has very much decreased this year. He also mentioned his knee injury last year was basically the only dragging one he had ever had. I don't have the interview wherein he says it at hand but it's expressed quite clearly in it he has a long career in mind, with his body of game style.

For the rest, we'll have to see what the future brings.

Playing cards is most definitely not a sport, let alone, something that would qualify to have a World Series of.

You're definitely not alone on that one. I think I'd be able to tolerate him more if the media wasn't so gaga over him to an extent where they totally ignore his other teammates. The most obvious example has to be the 200m freestyle semifinal, where they didn't even mention Peter Vanderkaay was swimming as well, until 150 meters into the race.

...When they realized he was going to beat Phelps to the wall. And even at that point, they only mentioned him in passing.

I get why some people (especially girls and young women) like him, though. He's very careful with the public image he presents to the media, at least since the drunk driving thing. It just kind of sucks that that image of modesty is just an image. I don't think CW will be sad to see him return to Baltimore.

My unpopular opinion for the Olympics: I really find swimming dull.

He's careful about his public image? I read plenty of comments saying he's not a nice person.
I read on an Israeli news site today that they had an interview with an Israeli swimmer who found out his dad died the day after he got to Beijing, and he's from the same college as Phelps and they train together, so he said Phelps told him he was sorry to hear about the tragedy and then Alon [our swimmer] added: "but he's got other things to care about, this doesn't really concern him" and though I know he's right and that Phelps probably didn't say anything like that to him, it did make me think he's probably kind of an ass if people think that about him.
