Yeah we`ve been going through the last two threads very quickly.

I forgot to mention this eariler, but the Bryan Brothers were defeated in the men`s doubles semifinals by Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyett 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-7(9). What a tough loss for Bob and Mike. They had triple set in the fourth set tiebreaker, but unfortunately couldn`t convert on any of them. So the Grand Slam drought continues for Bob and Mike. However they`re still alive in mixed doubles.

Also here`s a little news regarding Justine Henin.

WIMBLEDON, England (AP)—Less than two months after her sudden retirement, Justine Henin isn’t completely ruling out a return to tennis.

“I can never say for sure that I’ll never be back because I hate to say never,” Henin said. “But for me, and the people who know me, they know that when I do something, I do it 200 percent—and when I decide it’s over, it’s over and I go to the next step.”

The 26-year-old Belgian announced her retirement 10 days before the start of the French Open in May, saying she had lost her hunger for the game after a nine-year career that included seven Grand Slam titles.

“Being a professional athlete is quite difficult and you make a lot of sacrifices,” Henin said on laureus.com, the Web site of the Laureus World Sports Academy. “You need to eat tennis, sleep tennis and live tennis and give 300 percent all the time. I’ve been doing that for 20 years.

“You know one day it’s going to be over and I always said that it would never be an injury that pushed me to stop and that it was going to be my choice. I had the freedom to get my choice.”

Wimbledon was the only Grand Slam that Henin never managed to win.

“It has been the biggest disappointment of my career,” said Henin, who is establishing a tennis academy in Belgium. “It has a great tradition, I love it but my game wasn’t quite good enough and I probably wasn’t confident enough to win on grass.”

She predicts defending champion and four-time winner Venus Williams will win again.

“I keep thinking that Venus is the best player on grass,” she said. “She’s so big and tall, so, for me, she’s the favorite.”

Not much of a surprise that Justine would have the itch to return. It`ll happen sooner or later.

BTW i`ve added Marat Safin`s official site to the OP, mainly due to his great run at Wimbledon.

Excellent idea

Looking forward to tomorrow. Roger's match is up first!

Well that was to be expected. But I still cried at the end of that match I hope Safin continues his good form from this tournament 'cause I wanna see a lot of him this remaining year!

I thought it was a good match. I am so glad Safin played pretty good and managed to not just throw it away. I enjoy Safin and definately didnt want to see him lose badly..even though I did want him to lose

I will be a nervous wreck on Sunday!

Yeah, the commentators here pretty much said Safin is not stepping up his game but I didn't feel that way he was broken twice in the match which means it was pretty close. The first set was atrocious but then the second set was a lot better and closer, he actually managed to get some points on the Roger serve and if it weren't for those stupid mistakes in the tie break, I honestly think he could've won it and this game would've stretched out longer. Pity.
Pity for yet another Fedal final, but whatever I know what to expect by now, it just sucks that it keeps happening.

I don't get that. A match between the two best players in the world is 'yay' to me.

Also, just to add..I think Shuettler has much to be proud of! No one expected him to do anything, even if he'd won in three against Clement much less playing for 5 hrs over two days and no day off before this match at age 32. It was supposed to be a beat down against an old, tired, player with no weapons to hurt the great improved grass player. Schuettler went down in the first, made many errors and still broke the new improved unbreakable serve...he couldnt get the 2nd set, but man, I dont think anyone expected him to make it as close as he did!

It may have been a yay the first time, but it's pretty much the same final you get at every big tournament, and it's tiring. We've been through this, I'm sick of the Federer/Nadal hegemony
Plus you know, everyone has their favorites and neither of them is mine.

I agree that i'm dissapointed in the final. Its nothing against Nadal and Federer, i like them individually as people and respect them as tennis players. I just cant stand the predictability, it's making the run up to the final feel pointless to watch since we all know what the outcome is gonna be. I'm just finding it all a bit tedious, it's gonna run the risk of making wimbledon stale. It's probably aso because i like them both and have no preference over who wins, which just makes it less exciting. Having someone to root for is what makes it more appealing.

On a side note though, i've really developed an affection for Nadal this wimbledon. I have to admit i could give or take him before, but i've been watching his interviews with the bbc after each match and he seems like a very humble and sweet man.

He is!

They always try to trick him into praising himself or giving his opponents negative comments but he always remains graceful, humble and gives his opponent compliments. Like saying Murray would be Top 5 very soon, that was very nice thing to say of him; I think he tried to console the British audience a bit.

I wasn't aware he said that, but i haven't seen his interview after the Murray match since i was there and not watching the tv lol. But yeah, he has been very graceful with his success, it'd be easy and probably understandable if it went to his head, being so young still.
