like johhny mac said, agassi almost gave me a heart attack last night. lol. i had to stop myself from jumping up and down and yelling when he won cause my whole family was asleep. and about the crowd yelling at pavel, dude, it's freaking andre agassi and it's his last US Open, and last tournament. and it's, no offence to NYers, but it was basically a crowd of New Yorkers. but I'm from Alabama and I woulda been yelling too. lol. i've been an adre fan my whole life and i don't want to see him go out in the 1st round of his last tournament. neither does anyone else. except maybe his opponents. haha

Baggy can be a bit of a headcase, so Agassi has a really good chance of making it out of R2 if he can just stay fit. A QF appearance is not out of the question for him now, if he can stay fit....

Only one R2 match, because of the rain out today. Please, Rain Gods. Cease.

I'm done talking about the crowd.

I also wasn't saying anything more about the french crowd that I said about the crowd at NYC. The biggest problem I had at the french was that Andy Roddick let is get to him. He's a pro, he's played Davis Cup, he should be able to tune it out.

Yes, exactly. Thank you. It's Andre's last US Open. The crowd felt that he was in trouble and wanted to see him play on in the tournament, very bad and it was late...how many beers do you think some of those people have had? I'm not making excuses, just giving you things to think about.

Alright then The rain out is not good...let's hope that it clears up today and they can play.

Alex

My god...players like Philippoussis are boring

Poor people who went to the US Open yesterday. Did they get a refund or something?

Glad Blake rallied to win.

He was up 5-2 and almost let it get away.

Eek.

Sharapova easily won tonight and Andy looks like he's hopefully on his way as well. I love watching night matches in NYC. It doesn't get any better than this.

Maria did look impressive. Pity she didn't smack MB in the on court post-match interview though.

James needs to get his head together. I wish Jim Courier had some desire to do some individual coaching, because he would seemingly be a perfect match for him. His commentary on him and the issues he's going to have to sort out if he wants to keep a top 10 ranking was spot-the-heck-on.

Roddick retired from his match that he should have never played to begin with and the crowd booed him for it. I'm not defending him (although there's nothing to defend him for on this, really) or the RG fans, but there was no real match impact at all by their reaction either way. They just were classless post-mortem.

Edit: WOW.

Congrats to Agassi. He fought really hard last night to get the victory. For a moment, I thought it was going to be his last match. It would be nice to see him get really far in the tournament. And the fans in New York are really pulling for Andre.

Great match last night. Both Andre and Marcos really played their asses off. That match is what tennis is all about. Kudos to them both. Andre next got Benjamin Becker(no relation to Boris). Right now a matchup against Andy in the round of 16 is looming. I would really love to see that happen. Of course both Andre and Andy has to take care of business first. I`m very confident that Andre will, but i still don`t know about Andy. I know that he`s been playing better since getting Jimmy Connors as his coach, but i still have that feeling he could revert to his bad form at anytime. Hopefully it won`t happen. In fact it better not happen, because we all want to see this matchup very badly.

Seriously.

I aged 20 years in just one night.

I wonder if James is going to get to rock some acid washed denim next round...

Oh, but it will. I'll be utterly, utterly shocked if Andy doesn't get "upset" today -- or tomorrow, if Ernesto won't stop being a bitch -- by Verdasco.

I just hope to hell Agassi has enough in his ailing back to avoid being taken out by NotBorris Becker after that epic match with Baggy. If he's already doubled up on corti shots like it's being reported, there really is no telling how much more tennis his body can take before he just crumbles, regardless of his will or determination... but I still refuse to accept his career ending at the hands of a total journeyman.

Kitty: Unless something's changed this year, if a total wash out happens, it depends on your ticket situation. Refunds or exchanges may be possible, but you may also just have to eat it, again depending on what you had.

Probably worthless OOP for today.
