Caught the last set of the Jankovic match....Sorana Cirstea played great at the end there. Congrats to her.

I have a feeling that the final's gonna be Murry against del Potro ... what odds would I have gotten on that prior to the tournament?

Andy Murray will play Fernando Gonzalez in the quarterfinals. This is going to be a very tough match for Andy, going against Gonzo. Of course i do hope that Andy will keep an eye on Gonzo for obvious reasons.

Gael finished off Andy Roddick in straight sets just before the match could be called.

Good win for Gael.

He played very well and did a good job of using his superior clay court game. As for Andy, he had some good opportunities in the match, especially on some break chances in the third set, but couldn`t convert on them. Plus he lost his focus by letting the increasingly dark in the early evening bother him.

Even with today`s match, i`m still proud of Andy for making his best run at Roland Garros, which is a nice stepping stone for him heading into the grass court season.

So the quarterfinals are now with the favorites being Fed and Dinara Safina. However there some formiable players like Maria, Serena Williams, Andy Murray, Gonzo and Gael who also have good shots. BTW how strange it is that Tommy Roberdo is the last remaining member of the Spanish Armanda left in singles?

Also Uncle Toni lashes out at the Paris crowd.

Dont forget Davy...I wouldnt be surprised to see him in the final actually.

I actually think Gonzo will beat Andy tomorrow...And Davy will win over Soderling..unless Robin can come up with another amazing performance.

Anyhoo...thats going to be a tricky match against Monfils Wednesday. I dont enjoy watching Monfils on court actually..Roger definitely needs to come out firing and calm the French crowd down. Atleast Roger knows Monfils, and his antics, and knows what to expect, since he won their meeting last year at RG.

Here is an update on today`s matches.

First of all in the marquee match, Fernando Gonzalez defeated Andy Murray 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4. Not much of a surprise that Gonzo won, but it was surprising that he bageled Andy.

Also Robin Soderling continues his continues his great run as shockingly routed Nikolay Davydenko 6-1, 6-3, 6-1. This is pretty surprising that Robin defeated the usually solid Kolya in such a convincingly manner.

Meanwhile on the ladies` side, Dinara Safina got her first test of the tournament, but came out with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Victoria Azarenka, while in the other match, well the only thing i have to say about it is

what happened Maria?

So that`s the story on today`s matches. Tomorrow the quarterfinals will continue as Fed will take on Gael, Tommy Robredo will face Juan Del Potro, Serena Williams will play Svetlana Kuznetsova and Sorana Cirstea will take on Samantha Stosur.

Well one of my predictions was right..

Gonzo won. Andy had a slew of errors that 3rd set..he totally lost concentration, and it cost him. Gonzo's forehand was on fire today..from the very first set I knew Gonzo would win it.

Didnt see the Davy match though. Disappointing result for him there, I guess.

Gonzo and Soderling semi..sheesh..who would've thought. I'll go with Gonzo for this one..

Can someone explain why Serena's match tomorrow is not on PC? I mean, come on..she's #2 in the world and former RG champion. It just seems...odd.

Anyhoo...gooooooooooooo Roger tomorrow!

I will most definitely be watching.

I have no idea why her match is on SL and not on PC, where it should be.

It`s a big breach of court placement etiquette IMO.

HotRod, what happened to Serena? I heard she lost, but was it worse than that? On my msn home page, it said she was "shattered".Did you watch or know what happpened?

I caught that match between Serena and Svetlana Kuznetsova this morning. Serena came back from down 3-5 in the second set to win the last four games to take the set. Then she was up 3-1 at the start of the third set and was a point away from going up 4-1 when she inexplicitly got tight with her play and from then onward it was downhill for Serena. This quite a surprise to see Serena blow a good lead like this today. Usually she closes out matches like this, but i have to give credit to Svetlana Kuznetsova for hanging tough in today`s match.

Also Fed, Juan Del Potro and Samantha Stosur won their matches in straight sets today.

I`ve just added you to the list Chris. It`s nice to have a new member of the FF Tennis club. Hopefully we can get some more new members before Wimbledon. Plus it wouldn`t be too much to see some of our absent members drop by occasionally.

Welcome to the thread Majora`s Mask and congrats to you and the rest of the Aussies on Samantha Stosur`s run to the semifinals. I`m happy for the Aussies that they finally have a new tennis hero or heroine in Sam`s case, especially with Lleyton Hewitt`s recent injuries and Alicia Molik`s once promising career being derailed by injuries.

BTW i apologize for not posting any pics from today`s match. I didn`t feel like doing it, mainly because i`m starting to get sick of the red clay. It was good for a while, but now my tolerance for the red clay is rapidly waning, especially with all of my favorites like Maria, Andy Roddick, Ana and Nole are now out of the French Open. However i do have a special treat for the ladies, which is a recent photoshoot from Spanish Elle featuring Fernando Verdasco, Feliciano Lopez, David Ferrer and Tommy Robredo. I have to warn you ladies that these pics could cause shortness of breath and faster than normal heartbeats. Other than that, enjoy the pics of the Spaniards ladies.

You dont even see the clay, so it doesnt really count though
