| It's Been a Fun Ride... I’ve thought long and hard about this, and I’ve decided to step down as moderator of the Sports board. As evidenced by my lack of presence the last few months, I don’t have the required time or energy to perform my duties right now. For those who know me, I lead an incredibly busy life as it is. My schedule is only going to get busier this summer, and I would like to spend the little free time that I have focusing on interests outside of Fan Forum. As much as I love this place, it’s not fair to Nik or great posters like you to have someone not able to do their job to the best of their ability. So, the timing is right. Besides, I never wanted to be one of those moderators who should step down but refuses to just to keep their title. That’s not cool. Wow! It’s going to be weird stepping down from here. I’ve seen a lot of wonderful people come and go since this board opened in the Fall of 2000. Let me just say, it’s been a blast! From the “Aussie invasion” of the Sydney Olympics, to the hilarious fights between Lakers fans and haters back in the day, to the Anna Kournikova “Survivor Tennis” game (remember that?  ), to Shaolin’s obsessive love and consequent hate for Vince Carter, to Pat and Nik’s unwavering love for His Airness, to Chris’ Yankee-bashing ways, to all the friendly and not-so-friendly trash talking, to our competitive fantasy leagues, it’s been a fun ride. All of you have made this a wonderful place to visit over the past five years. It’s the very reason why I’ve considered the Sports board my “home” at Fan Forum. For that, I thank you.With that said, this isn’t my swan song. You will still see me around. After all, I will need somewhere to vent about the Cubs’ inevitable collapse and the other misfortunes that always seem to doom my favorite sports teams. | Kathie, words cannot fully do justice to expressing how disappointed I am that we’ll be losing you as a moderator, but I fully understand and respect your decision. I’ve always felt that you’re the most eloquent poster that we’ve had here at Fan Forum since the day you started posting here, and I always looked forward to reading one of your discussion topics or episode commentaries on the Dawson's Creek board back in the day, and although I've never posted on this board much, I know that you were just as much of a leader on this board as you were when we co-moderated the Dawson's Creek board together, and when you were a Moderator Manager here. I hope that you’ll continue to stop by here and grace this message board with your wonderful posts, warm wit, intelligence, and most especially your unsurpassed knowledge of sports. | Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I appreciate it. I’ve enjoyed posting with all of you over the years, so it means a lot. You are good people. Like I said before, I’ll still be around. Maybe not as much as before, but I definitely will not abandon ship. This place means too much to me. Keep up the great posts so that it stays that way. | Oh Kathie, I hate to learn that your stepping down and your presence here will be lesser. But I understand your choice and reasons...but I'm still gonna miss you.  Best of luck in everything you do.....it was truly a pleasure in getting to know and chat with you all this time on the board, I just hope you don't stray too far from us. | Ah damn, it's like the end of an era. Your presence here will surely be missed, Kathie. You're one of the most knowledgable sports fan I've ever met, and probably one of my favourite posters on FF.
