I'm really sad he won't be at Queens but given how he played at the French Open something obviously isn't right so he clearly needs to get himself sorted out whether it be his knee that is troubling him or if it is more psychological. The important thing is that he is ready and fit for Wimbledon and will be able to defend his title.

^That's very true. I just hope he'll be fit for Wimbledon.

I think he is using his knees as excuse to try to get better mentally. His knees are an ongoing issue so he can always use them. He is drained mentally and he is trying to restore some of his strength

Yes, I think that, too. He's won 5 titles and won alot more matches than any other player. With the RG lose, I think that he needs a mental respite.

There is a spanish article that Toni says Rafa has an edema on his knee bone. It also says he is on pain for a long time and now it became unbearable (I really don't know why they wait till it turns unbearable to skip tournaments).
In another note, on Spain's TV and newpapers there is only one news related to Rafa: his parents are getting divorced after one year living apart.
Poor Rafa, astral hell

So, there was something to their weird body language at Wimbledon last year?! I noticed during Wimbly that his mother would cut his father these odd sidelong looks. It looked mildly tense. I just thought it was due to the match. Oh, poor Rafa and his sister! Well, now we know. I don't think we should talk about it, though. It's very personal to Rafa and I don't really feel all that comfortable talking about that part of his life. I just hope that tennis will be a haven for him instead of a distraction and a job.

I think this is the personal issue he mentioned and Bodo suggested on Miami. Maybe that's when things got ugly.
I fell so sorry for him not for his tennis career but because he is a family guy, he appreciates to live together with his whole family, grandparents, uncles, parents. This must be really tough for him and I feel so sorry about it

Oh, Rafa!

Yeah, I know what a sense of strength he got from his family. In age, Rafa may be a grown man, but there is that little boy quality to him still. I wonder where is home for Rafa if his parents have been living apart a year already?

B, I'm not going to be able to post for a day or so, so, I'll be "seeing" you later this week. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Omg, that's really sad news. I feel so bad for him.

I just read this Toni's interview. He said: "We'll go to Barcelona to see what the problem is. I am not too optimistic. But if there is a possibility for him to take part in one of the world's greatest tournaments, he will."

I don't like the fact that he's not optimistic and with everything that is happening in Rafa's life right now, I'm seriously worried. Aww, poor Rafa, I just hope he'll be better soon.

Well I am not this worried because this is Toni speaking. I think he overreacts every time Rafa has an injury and this time it doesn't seem different. Rafa said he hopes to play Wimbledon, he didn't say he wasn't positive about it. But in the case Toni is not overreacting as he usually does (and I am not criticizing him just pointing out that its his nature to worry a bit too much and I feel him like a pessimist person) in this case I want him to skip Wimbledon and heal what he needs to heal in all spheres of his life and come back stronger and healthier.

I feel the same way. I would love to see him play in Wimbledon, but if skipping it would mean that he'll come back healthier and stronger, I'd be happy with that, too.
