I was thinking about that Reve, but unless they planned on retiring completely I don't think they would take a season off unless Meryl and Charlie did too Otherwise they would just lose more ground and MC would have more opportunity to establish themselves as the dominating ice dance team. And the fact that Tessa can train 100% now is probably encouragment for them to keep competing as well. But still its got to be hard to go straight from an Olympic season into this crazy prolonged one, with no real break before next season starts.

I think it's relevant to recall that, despite the Worlds postponement, Tessa and Scott were not doing the same things in the first half of the season that Meryl and Charlie were. They've had about half a season's break (Scott's training in fall was not so intensive as to keep him from racing around to multiple weekday Canadian book signings and public appearances at Tessa's side), and the impression I derived from certain of the latest conference write-ups was that the time away from skating and competing actually reinforced their desire to resume. I don't doubt that they're exhausted now, and I hope they give themselves a nice little vacation after finishing their spring show commitments, but I had a stronger sense of two people who were enjoying a break last summer and fall than I'm getting now of two people who are so burned out that they're ready to take a break next season. Returning at all this year, when they could easily and logically have taken 4CC and Worlds off, only stressed in my view how committed they are to competition.

I also don't foresee Tessa and Scott retiring next season. Like Thief said, they cared enough about competing to return this season despite the setbacks and the fact that this is the least competitive year in the Olympic cycle. And now that Tessa is healthy once more I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we see them in Sochi
