Another group trying to get a team near Toronto.

TORONTO - A new Toronto-based group has come forward with a proposal to launch a second NHL franchise in Toronto in time for the 2012-13 season.

The Toronto Legacy Group, led by founder Andrew Lopez, laid out its vision at a news conference Friday, suggesting that C$1 billion in financing is already in place for the proposed expansion team.

The team would be known as the Toronto Legacy, and would play out of a proposed 30,000-seat arena built at Downsview Park, located in the north of the Greater Toronto Area.

The group has proposed that 25 per cent of its annual net profits will be divided amongst charitable foundations and non-profit organizations.

Lopez says his group is not affiliated with Blackberry billionaire Jim Balsillie, who is looking to relocate the Phoenix Coyotes to Hamilton

I want a team in Seattle! so they can rearrange the Western conference and the Canucks haev a team close to them in terms of travel time.. instead of travelling 2-3 time zones over. Selfish. I know.

Meh, they'd sellout for games, I'm sure, which is better than a lot of places in the US right now. But I don't want another team there, either.

It'd be great if it was New York that they're playing. Like Yankees vs Red Sox, eh?

But I guess they're saving New York for the 2011's Winter Classic.

If that was the case, I'd go with Flyers vs Bruins because if they are going to New York for the 2011 Winter Classic, then New York is a much bigger stage to showcase Alex Ovechkin.
