| NFL Week 6: Pick the Winners Hey NFL fans! The "Pick the Winners" game returns for its fifth season at this board. For those who have played before, you know how the drill goes. Newcomers: this is a fun and easy game to play. For each week of the regular season, all you have to do is pick which team you think will win each match-up and then place a point value on that game. For example, there are 14 games in Week 6, and it is your job to allocate points from the game you are most confident in (14 pts.) to the game you view as a toss-up (1 pt.). Therefore, points will be allotted in decreasing value from 14, 13, 12...all the way down to 1. *Remember, you CAN'T place the same point value on more than one game.* At the end of each week, we will tally up the number of points each participant has earned based on correct predictions, and the person with the most overall points at that time will be crowned winner. We will also keep track of the weekly winners to determine the season champion. Sound simple? If you have any questions, feel free to post them at this thread. Week 6 Games: Carolina vs. Philadelphia Green Bay vs. Detroit Kansas City vs. Jacksonville San Diego vs. Atlanta San Francisco vs. NY Jets Denver vs. Oakland Minnesota vs. New Orleans Cincinnati vs. Cleveland Houston vs. Tennessee Miami vs. Buffalo Seattle vs. New England Washington vs. Chicago Pittsburgh vs. Dallas Tampa Bay vs. St. Louis *Deadline: Sunday, Oct. 17 (1 PM EST)* Weekly Champions: Week 1 - Avatar Week 2 - Wildfire Girl Week 3 - Shaolin Week 4 – Shaolin Week 5 - Uh Blah Overall record: Superhero - 46-28 Wildfire Girl - 46-28 Chi159 - 45-29 Hot Rod - 45-29 sf3000 - 43-31 Avatar - 40-34 Uh Blah - 40-34 BB. - 38-36 Shaolin - 35-23 Carmelo Anthony - 27-15 Angeli_Dean - 9-5 TMoney - 9-5 __________________ "Government, even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one." | |||

| i know most of you have been around past seasons, so has anyone else notcied that scores are significantly lower this year? i remember consistently gettin around 80-90 points each week and the winner usually had around 90-100 points. i guess it has somethin to do with a lot of surprise teams this year. the lions, the pack, the bucs, the falcons, the niners, the titans. i could keep goin but i think yall know what i mean. keyword: parody | |||

| I know what you mean. If anyone put up the typical winning scores that we’ve had this season in years past, they would not have won. Like you said, parody is the main reason for this. You can’t depend on Green Bay, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, or San Francisco to put up automatic wins anymore. Plus, there aren’t as many cellar-dwelling teams like there used to be. Prior to last year, you could basically count on the Bengals to lose every week. That’s no longer the case. The same thing goes for a bunch of other teams. This is good for the NFL, but not your chances of winning this game. __________________ "Government, even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one." | |||

| Re: NFL Week 6: Pick the Winners Penguinette944, you're not supposed to pick the point spread. You pick a winner for each game, and assign a point value for each game, depending upon how certain you are of your picks. You can only use each number once. So if there are 14 games this week, and I KNOW that Green Bay is certain to win, I'll put them down for 14. If I think that KC will win, but think that it might be a toss-up, I might put KC down for 3 or 4 points. After all games are done, you add up the point values that you assigned to the winners that you correctly picked. That's your score. See? Week 6 Games: 13 -- Carolina vs. Philadelphia 8 --- Green Bay vs. Detroit 12 -- Kansas City vs. Jacksonville 14 -- San Diego vs. Atlanta 10 -- San Francisco vs. NY Jets 7 --- Denver vs. Oakland 5 --- Minnesota vs. New Orleans 2 --- Cincinnati vs. Cleveland 11 -- Houston vs. Tennessee 4 --- Miami vs. Buffalo 6 --- Seattle vs. New England 3 --- Washington vs. Chicago 1 --- Pittsburgh vs. Dallas 9 --- Tampa Bay vs. St. Louis __________________ Et quacunque viam dederit fortuna sequamur. | |||

| So much for the three-peat. If Houston had pulled off that comeback I'd still be sitting at the top. Oh well, all good things must come to an end. Kinda like Uh Blah's current reign at the top. ![]() Quote:
