NFL Discussion Thread (Off Season)

Well, the last thread had reached its limit, so here's a new one to discuss the latest goings-on in the NFL. Feel free to use this thread to gloat, bitch, or talk trash about your favorite team. Oh, yeah. Civilized discussion would be suitable as well.

Bears suck. Indy gave them a butt-whooping yesterday. No big surprise! With all the injuries we have sustained on defense, along with Craig freakin' Krenzel as our QB, this was bound to happen. Sad, but true.

At least we have Thanksgiving day games to look forward to this week! How beautiful! You can't beat that.

I know he's basically a rookie and that he's gonna be a good one one day, but right now, I just have to say it: Carson Palmer suck. What was that intentional grounding-safety good for? And why run into your own end-zone in the first-place? BTW, what have happened to Rudi Johnson? Our pass-defense was good, forcing 7 sacks on Ben Roethlisberger, but it was all for naught.
But on the plus side; how about that amazing catch by Chad Johnson?
Can u tell I have him in my $ league?

So I'm excited to see MNF tonight. Not b/c I'm hoping for sum more T&A but then again in all seriousness I think tonight's game should be fun to watch. Even w/o Holmes, the Chiefs have one the most explosive offenses around. While my Pats boast one of the best D's in the NFL. I believe this will be Dillon's 1st ever appearance on Monday night so I'm sure he'll be especially psyched about tonight.

My sentiments exactly. But, about my Niners, of course.

Bucs kicked their asses, and then some.

Pitiful.

Yep hopefully Indy will give the same treatment to Detroit. Lets hope Detroit football fans are nicer than their basketball ones...

And I still have to ask: What was Carson doing running back into his own end-zone? I think the call was wrong, first of all - with the time remaining, Randle El's good returns, and the Bus' in the backfield to run time down, the Bengals were almost in four-down territory, so there's no need to panic on 2nd-and-11 and go from the shotgun - especially after Carson had just gotten sacked - and you know Dick LeBeau is thinking safety.

I'm pulling out my hair just thinking about it. The Bengals really really need to do something about the offensive play calling. It's horrible!! I honestly think I could call better plays sometimes. Maybe Kitna should call the plays

Hey guys,
I have a couple questions. The football players don't have to go to college right? Can't they come right out of high school or something? Also, how come some quarterbacks get sacked and they still have more chances but there are other times when he gets sacked and they have to give the ball to the other team? Is it the down that matters? Thanks!!

Nope, a player cannot come out of high school and play in the NFL. He has to have at least 2/3 years of college. If the QB got sacked on 3rd down, then the coach can either go for it on 4th down or punt the ball away to the other team. You have 4 chances to make 10 yards(Well 3 chances..depends on how close you are to the endzone, some teams will kick a field goal...but if they're not close enough they'll punt the ball away and not go for it on 4th down), if you get 10 yards, then you get another set of downs and so forth and so forth, until they either score a touch down or kick a field goal. Hope that helps.

Hey Kathie how bout them Cowboys! Well somebody had to win and the Boys did that. I love what i saw from Julius Jones. Finally we get to see him and he had a very good game, rushing for 150 yards. As for Drew Henson, he showed flashes, but mostly looked very inexperienced, especially when the Bears blitzed and pretty much blew any chances of a shutout when he threw that pick to R.W. McQuarters. I think that Coach Parcells did the right thing to go with Vinny for the second half. Might as well go for the win. The Bears` defense kept them in the game, but eventually they got wore down. The offense as expected looked terrible. It was so bad that Lovie Smith even asked a reporter after the game if he could play quarterback. The Bears has some good players on defense Kathie, but the offense needs more work done. It was good to see the Boys finally win again, which made my Thanksgiving day better.

How much do Lovie Smith now regret not having called the Bengals before the trade deadline to offer, say, a third-round pick for Jon Kitna?

Indy had a kickass game! If Peyton stayed in the game he would've gotten that record he'll be on the NFL Today tomorrow.

Did we make some type of bet that I’m unaware of? If so, I definitely would have picked against the Bears. I had a feeling they would get killed in this game. We have no offense whatsoever. It was embarrassing watching Krenzel and Quinn stink up the joint. Both probably shouldn’t even be in the NFL.

Congrats on the win, Rod! If the Cowboys had lost, then you know something is very wrong in Dallas. I wasn't surprised to see Parcells yank Henson at halftime. As scary and ridiculous as it sounds, the Bears were actually competitive with him on the field.

The only way the Bears will win another game is if their defense dominates and scores points. How sad is that?

ETA: I just found out that the Bears signed Jeff George to a one-year contract. Desperate much? I already know this isn't going to turn out well...
