Thanks for starting the new thread Nik!

Wow..a lot has happened the last few days. First off, what are the Knicks THINKING? They basically traded Spree for Van Horn? Wow...

And damn, the Kings just got stronger with adding Miller. At least they finally did something- they cant just watch as the Lakers and Spurs improved their roster. next year is going to be very interesting in the Western Conference

What is this Kings trade? Why would Indy trade Brad Miller?

Minnesota is pretty loaded next year, but between Cassell-Spree-Wally World-Garnett, they are going to be fighting each other for shots and probably not playing a lot of defense. We'll see, but that team has the potential to be awesome.

Here's the story from IndyStar.com:

Quote:
Brad Miller gets a mega-contract and an opportunity to play for a championship contender.

The Indiana Pacers at least get compensation for losing their starting center, picking up an experienced center while also gaining financial flexibility.

That is the essence of a three-team trade that, while unofficial, will soon become reality, according to various league sources.

The Pacers will sign Miller to a seven-year deal reportedly worth about $68 million, then send him to Sacramento for Scot Pollard and Hedo Turkoglu. They in turn will ship Turkoglu along with Ron Mercer to San Antonio in a salary dump that will enable them to re-sign Reggie Miller and add another free agent or two.

They also obtained Danny Ferry's nonguaranteed contract from the Spurs, potentially worth $4.5 million next season. They can release the 36-year-old forward without penalty, pick up his option and include him in another deal, or keep him.

The Pacers also agreed to terms Wednesday with point guard Anthony Johnson, a six-year veteran who played the past two seasons in New Jersey.

It's a great deal for the Kings and seems to have weakened the Pacers up front. Brad Miller and Jermaine O'Neal were a nice combination, but now the Pacers have Pollard playing centre.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if we traded for Yao Ming. I wanted the Kings to stay the same.

Man! And just when I thought the Off Season was amazing! I spoke way too soon!

Now, I can't see Pollard's hair sticking up from the bench. And Hedo's face eagerly awaiting to be put into the game. And that little smile he does when he scores an important point!

I like B.Miller and all... But...

The Pacers did that just to resign Reggie Miller? What a bunch of idiots, he's very close to being washed up. Turkoglu is a good player, Indiana should have kept him. Pollard is a good rebounder, but nowhere as complete a player as Miller.

I would have done this trade in a heartbeat! I'd take Miller over Pollard any day. The Kings already have enough scorers so they could afford to lose Turkoglu. But what the Kings have been looking for is a young centre to eventually replace Vlade. They got that in Miller. IMO, this deal has made the Kings chances of winning even better.

Will: About Reggie Miller, I was thinking the same thing. He's getting old and doesn't have that many years in him left. I definitely thought that the Pacers would have re-signed Brad Miller and given Reggie the veteran's minimum. But I guess there wasn't enough money to go around.

And there's a rumor going around that the Mavs are looking to trade Raef LaFrentz to the Knicks for Kurt Thomas and Charlie Ward. Click here for the story.

Kurt Thomas would be a good addition to the Mavs, giving them a good low post defender. I don't know why the Mavs would want Ward, though. They already have Nash and Van Exel at the point. As for LaFrentz, he'd finally give the Knicks some size at the centre spot. He might do well in New York.

What is Indy doing? I don’t like that deal from their standpoint. Not at all. They would essentially be trading away one of the best centers in the East, and then shipping a talented SF in Turkoglu to San Antonio, just to free up some cap space and to re-sign Reggie Miller? I understand the concept of showing respect to the franchise’s all-time best player, but come on! Miller is on the downside of his career and doesn’t have much to offer this club besides recognition factor. Besides, the Pacers just lost a key cog of their front court. Who are they going to replace Miller with? It’s all fine and dandy to say that you are going to use the available $ to sign FA’s, but who of any quality is actually going to sign with Indiana? A lot of Jermaine O’Neal’s production last season was a byproduct of having Brad Miller playing center. I’ll be interested to see what happens this season, as I assume the Pacers will move him over to play the 5.

This is a great deal for Sacramento. Vlade is on his last legs and won’t be around after this season. Miller is a definite upgrade at that position. He might not be as good of a defender, but definitely knows his role and the concept of team basketball. I think he will be a good fit.

Man, the East is becoming weaker by the minute! With Brad Miller about to make an exit, Eddy Curry is in a GREAT position to represent the East at center in the All-Star game. Next to Mourning, he's the only legit big man in that conference.

I know it's a great deal for Sac, I just don't care. I want my boys!

I know, I'm lame.

Shaolin asked for more trash talkin’ on another thread. Even if this is not what he meant, who am I to disappoint?

Let’s see, the Raptors have crapped out the past two years amid high expectations and Vinsanity’s soft game. What does Grunwald do to restore Toronto to expected glory? Signs a washed up college coach in Kevin O’Neill, along with Milt Palacio and Jerome Moiso. Ooh, I can see the victory parade already coming!

Buy those NBA Finals tickets now! Get them while they’re hot.

Hey, it’s all gravy! The Bulls have one of the youngest and most potential-laden teams in the entire NBA. Any team would kill to have youngsters like Curry, Chandler and Crawford. Their future looks a lot brighter (especially in a weak Eastern Conference) than Toronto’s does right now, who seems to be making lateral moves yet AGAIN.

Keep drinking the purple Kool-Aid, Shaolin! I’m just looking out for your well-being, bro. I don’t want to see you embarrass yourself with playoff predictions when Vince goes down with another injury.

Hey, we should start a pool! Guess when Vinsanity breaks a nail and goes on IR. I’ll go first: Dec. 5.

And I'm being generous with that date.

You actually want your guy playing on the Craptors?

Have you no shame?
