I was thinkin, how come no one has started a NBA fantasy discussion yet when I remembered I was the one who ran it last year. So ... the season starts in a few weeks and we havent started anything up. anyone intested your name belongs here.

I’d be interested in joining. I’m always game.

I don’t see us being able to complete a draft at this board prior to the start of the regular season, though. That would be a potential problem.

Also, the reason why someone didn’t already start this thread is probably because people tend to lose interest in fantasy MLB or NBA games since the season lasts so long. It’s difficult to always keep up-to-date on things. That isn’t the case with the NFL.

Hopefully, more people will join. We need to get Shaolin, Pat, Chris, Nikki, Dan, your cousin, and other NBA lifers to sign up. After all, somebody has to beat Steve at his own game.

as soon as we got some people in we can set a draft date (which should be soon since the season starts in less than 3 weeks). A little input on the league rules would be nice. I have it set up right now with the basic public league settings and a head to head schedule. any opinions would be appreciated.

I just signed up. I probably won't be around for the draft, but you can auto-draft me using the Yahoo rankings. I'll probably just switch any players I don't like during the season.

I don't know all the rules to the game, but is this league going to be a weekly or daily thing? I'd prefer a weekly thing because I'm not online as much. Plus, wouldn't it be a bitch juggling your lineup every single day? I'd be too lazy to do that.

And if we don't have enough players joining the league, we could always have two teams each. Just make up a rule that you can't trade between your own two teams to keep the game fair.

i didnt have time yesterday so i thought id lay out the rules

right now the league is set up the way it aws last year. We start 2 guards, 2 forwards, a center and a 6th man (any positon). I prefer a weekly lineup but we currently have it set up for daily roster changes. i think it brings a little more strategy to the game, but daily changes also encourages more active participation so either way is good.

we are also set up as a head to head league based on total stat categories. this basically means whoever has the most points in that stat during the week wins the point for that category (ex: a person gets a point for having more FGs than the other, assists, blocks, etc). the current categories are:

FG% FT% 3PTM Points Rebounds Assists Steals Blocks Turnovers

anyone who wants to add or take off a category, im open to suggestion.

i would like to start the draft by 10/20 so lets get some more players up in here.

BTW, considering we are so close to the beginning of the season i was wondering if it was possible for us to have a live draft. ive always preffered a live draft but i know we all have our own time constraints but if everyone could let me know what the best time would be for them (or if we should even try to at all).

As much as I’d like to do it, I think it would be difficult to get everyone together to do a live draft. I know that we all keep different schedules, so it would be hard to get everyone to agree on a mutual time. I know that I wouldn’t be able to do it unless it was late at night (after 10:00 CST), which probably wouldn’t work well for others. So, if we have to conduct the draft at this board, I guess that’s the way to go. However, some type of rule should be instituted that if a person doesn’t post their pick within a certain amount of time, then some type of measure will be taken (like drafting the next highest rated player from a draft sheet regardless of position).

If we’re going to start the draft on Wednesday, I would also like to get more players signed up. If we get the ball rolling on that day, please let us know the starting time of the draft in advance. Thanks!

as usual, the draft will begin at midnight eastern on 10/20 (as in wednesday night / thursday morning). first come first serve with a reverse order in each round

If we can't get more people to sign up, I guess we'll just have a surplus of great players on our team. Not a bad problem to have. If it comes to that, injuries will be the determining factor in who wins this year.
