So Jason Kidd was gonna go to Dallas, but apparently those trade talks have cooled off and Stoudemire, who was waived by the Grizzlies, will for sure sign with the Spurs.

OMG...my lakers got Pau Gasol!!! They gave up Kwame Brown, Crittenton, Aaron McKie, and draft picks. Sports writers have said that now the Lakers have the best line up in the NBA!

Lakers trade for Gasol

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired Memphis center Pau Gasol, league sources said Friday afternoon.

The Lakers will send center Kwame Brown and rookie point guard Javaris Crittenton to Memphis in the trade, along with two future No. 1 picks.

It is possible the Lakers will re-sign free agent Aaron McKie to send to Memphis to balance the contracts in the deal.

Gasol, a 7-footer, can play center for the Lakers until Andrew Bynum returns from a knee injury sometime in March. Then, Gasol, who is averaging 18.9 points and 8.8 rebounds, can slide over into the power forward spot. His passing and shooting skills are ideal to operate in the triangle offense. This move pushes the Lakers into championship contention.

For Memphis, Brown’s $9 million contract comes off the salary cap at the end of the season. Gasol has three years left and nearly $50 million left on his contract. He is averaging nearly 19 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Grizzlies.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal also reported the story Friday in its online edition.

I think this is a great trade for the Lakers!! Kobe did have Kwame's back through the boos and everything, and Javaris was like a little brother to him. At least that's what he said! But come on! Pau Gasol vs. Kwame-no comparison!

I think Boston will win it this year.

I honestly think he will. Look at their line up when Bynum comes back! Bynum, Gasol, Odom front court and Kobe and Fisher in the back court. That's gonna be tough to beat. I just hope Bynum comes back healthy and just as good as he was before.

theyre, right. we do have the best line up in the nba. i hope we can gel and make a good run in the playoffs. and i thought things were looking up with bynums improvement...

This is true!! Everyone wants to see another Lakers vs. Celtics championship. I for one don't mind that.
