Now I know why Capirossi's bike was all wobbly:

Capirossi clips team-mate at 250kph.(12/05/2003)

Having qualified an amazing one-two for yesterday's Spanish Grand Prix, Ducati riders Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss nearly eliminated each other even before the race began after a heart-stopping incident on the formation lap, which wasn't caught on camera – and left both of them injured before the start.

"What happened on the warm-up lap was quite scary," explained Pole-sitter Capirossi. "I was doing maybe 250kmh (on the back straight) when two riders just ahead of me suddenly moved apart and I found myself racing towards Troy, who seemed to be going much slower.

"I tried to brake but it was too late to avoid him – I hurt my arm, bent the ‘bar and damaged the fairing," stated the Italian, who went on to thrill the 128,000 fans with his sideways style, before being thrown from his machine on lap 13, whilst third.

"I got a good start but after a few laps it became difficult to ride the bike, because the riding position was a little strange, so maybe I had some tendon problems," revealed the #65. "I really hurt the arm in the crash, I thought it was broken but it's not, it just needs a lot of ice."

Team-mate Bayliss also rode in some pain following the warm-up-lap collision, the Italian's left handlebar making contact with the Australian's right leg.

"Everyone in front was suddenly going slower," recalled Troy. "So I slowed, then all the guys behind came past on my left, except Loris and another guy. I've done something to the leg, but nothing too bad."

Bayliss went on to take his first ever MotoGP podium after his team-mate's crash

Thanks for the info. I hope he'll have better luck in the next race than what he's had so far

Wasn't around during the q session today, but that wasn't a big loss since Eurosprt didn't even show it.. cycling was on instead (Giro).

I'm feeling terribly lazy, so I'll just post the link to the Marca page with the results *G*

Since I don't know if you've seen the races yet (the first two that is) - I'll just say that I'm happy with the winners of both

Hey, do you know anything about a document movie made about the Moto GP? The comm guys mentioned it and showed a few seconds of a clip showing some riders driving to the front of a movie theater in Cannes. There was a close shot of Ewan McGregor too and it looked suspiciously much like he had a leather jacket quite suited for riding a bike on him . Dunno if he was on a bike too there.. Might be an interesting to see .

ed: yep, he was on a bike too.. You can see more pics in the special pictures section at Motogp.com

ed: Rossi there too

bah, Moto GP race being stopped for a moment there. Eep Rossi didn't get to see it at first. And that wibble there - eep. Good that he showed there to the people behind him.

Found this about it from here

Quote:
MotoGP movie "Faster" premieres at the Cannes Film Festival

Over the past two years, a documentary about the MotoGP World Championship has been filmed at several GPs by a Hollywood production company. The movie, "Faster", has finally been completed and had its international launch in Cannes during the famous Festival this evening.

The screening took place at the Riviera 8 Theater, however prior to that launch a party was hosted at The Majestic Hotel. The high point of the evening besides the film, was the arrival of the MotoGP stars, some on their race bikes, from along La Croisette, the famous front beach boulevard in Cannes that is the center of attention during the Festival. The MotoGP riders involved were Valentino Rossi (Honda / Italy), Olivier Jacque (Yamaha / France), Loris Capirossi (Ducati / Italy), John Hopkins (Suzuki / USA), Colin Edwards (Aprilia / USA) Garry McCoy (Kawasaki/Australia) and Alex Hofmann (Kawasaki / Germany).

There was an additional surprise because the film, which is around 100 minutes long, is narrated by the famous Scottish actor Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Moulin Rouge), and he too arrived at the launch riding a bike alongside the MotoGP stars. McGregor who is a keen motorcycle enthusiast remarked, "This has been an amazing event, I've never been to a premiere like this before! Nor have I ridden a bike like I did today alongside the MotoGP riders, the guys are all really good fun."

Over 100 photographers awaited the riders' and McGregor's arrival as they rolled up at the Majestic Hotel, with the racers showing off their skills to the cameras. Later, regarding his narration of the film the Briton commented, "The director Mark Neill called me up and showed me the movie while I was working in the US, and I had never seen such a good motorcycling film. We met up soon after in Alabama and put the voice on it. Unfortunately I can't make these guys' next GP in Le Mans, however I hope to be able to attend a race at some time later on in the year."

Valentino Rossi, who forms a big part of the film, was impressed by the scene, "There's a fantastic atmosphere here. I think the film itself is great, I enjoyed it a lot." Another of the riders to feature strongly in the picture is young American, John Hopkins. The Californian 19 year-old said, "I have one more year of experience since the film, and now I'm not just the young guy in the movie, now I'm more mature and trying to make my place in the MotoGP scene."

Hey T

The Spaniards seem to be having a good day today Not a bad result at all

I haven't heard of that Cannes Film Festival at all Thanks for telling and posting that article Ewan on a bike is yummay

Did your commentators mention anything about Biaggi having trained with the Monaco team (as in football team) almost every Monday, and had a few footie games with them. Apparently his friend was one of those in charge of the team (for training maybe I'm not sure) and that he stays nearby to them?

Yeah *G*. AS is saying "triplete historico" so I gather it's the first time three Spaniards win on the saame day - hence the happy even though Kallio & Capirossi. Rossi came second so it didn't hurt him either, so there it's good too

No, they didn't say anything about Biaggi & Monaco. He seems to enjoy the charity matches though, so I'm not that surprised to hear that.

Yeah, good fight too at the end between Gibernau & Rossi - it could have gone either way.

Oh, and I hate this short rain interrupting smooth dry races. It leaves the riders with no choice but to take a gamble on which tyres to choose...

And I've no idea about this new neutralisation ruling, I mean before this they were like competing for the timings after the re-start of races, and now whoever crosses the line first wins? And what the heck is that white flag with red cross thing...I don't think I've seen it before

I was a bit lost there at times too. It'd be good if there was a site with all the rules in a clear manner that also told what changes have been made and when..

I remembered reading the rules in a pdf format which I downloaded from a site (I don't remember where, but it's most likely to be from Motogp main website). The rules are long though, like those Uefa rules that we have. Most probably they might have a revised version up too. I'm just to lazy to look
