MLB Discussion #5 - "Better hurry up & hit one, the catcher is looking at your butt."

Hope no one minds that I started this.

Title courtesy of http://www.heckledepot.com/ because I couldn't think of a good one on my own. Heh.

Lala...baseball is cool.

I like the title!

The Cubs are going for 5 in a row against the Dawdgers tonight! I'm looking forward to Sunday's pitching match-up: Mark Prior vs. Kevin Brown. It should be a good one. I have a feeling this will be a low scoring series.

Let's go Cubbies!

So tired of people intentionally walking Bonds. So, so tired.

Edit: And then he hits a 3-run homer the only real chance he gets. Okay, maybe I can't really blame Bowa for all the walks. LOL.

Hey, since the Giants beat the Phills tonight, the Marlins are now tied for the wild card. Woo.

what a great game that giants game was, it is always good to be there and see bond's homer. I am just glad that for once in the last couple years, the giants arent going for the wild card, they are in first place

That was a tape-measure homer too, yo. I don't think that sucker has landed yet.

I know. Though I understand, it sucks. In the WS wanted to kill the halos every time they walked him.

I was just watching them replay it on ABC right now, and it almost landed on some poor kayakers(spelling) head, it was like 3 feet to the left. That ball left the stadium and you couldnt really see it in the air, that has to be some record. BUt even that doesnt matter Bonds is not 12 away from his Godfather, congrats Bonds.

I must confess I don't want Bonds to pass Willie.

Bonds is like cheese, gets better wtih age. There has a commentary on Yahoo the other day about Bonds and Rice adn about how they are both pretty much the best in their sport, at least Bonds is, and how he has gotten so mcuh better with age, and if he is playing in 5 or 10 years how good he is going to be. I think if he is still playing by then, he is going to be #1 on the home run list.

I think that it will be exciting to see Bonds move up, he is passing his godfather so that should be interesting, and probably a big deal at Pac Bell nad they will have another celebration at home plate, if it happens there.

Baring serious injury and/or lightening striking him, Bonds is going to obliterate his godfather's record.

Who *I* personally want to see him pass is Ruth. I don't care if he passes Aaron. It'd be cool, but I have a feeling he won't be wearing orange & black when he does it, so whatever.

(No matter what uniform Barry wears, I will always, always root for him to get a ring. But his homerun records, if I have to see him set them in another uniform, I know that's going to break my heart. For some reason I just feel like they belong to the city of SF and the fans as much as they belong to Barry.)

You know, what's funny, is Sosa is nipping at the heels of Bonds and he's 4 years younger. If Sammy keeps going, he could very well obliterate EVERYONE.

Oh as for AL/NL Cy's, I like Mulder and Smoltz/Willis. I would say Roy Halladay, but he got so many damn run support. If he won, I wouldn't be surprised (it's usually all about your wins anyways), though. Or maybe Loaiza. Other than that, everyone's doing so crappy. Too bad Huddy didn't have more wins, I bet he'd be more in the race.

Nikki, I want to know what's up with Zito, too! Another loss for him to the Tigers. But what sucks was he had pitched a CG, 0ER, yet they still lost 2-3. Man.

I know what you are saying about the uniform. Bonds needs to be wearing the Giants uniform. TO me heis always going to be a giant. How many years after this season does he hvae on his contracT? 2? I dont think that Sammy is going to pass Bonds. He has always been at his heels, but Bond always end up passing Sosa, and usually in the home run race. Sammy hits like 50 and Bonds hits like 60 or something like that. I personallly dont think that Sosa will ever pass Bonds, and i dont wanthim to. Plus Sosa might retire before he passes Bonds, most players dont play when they are 39.

Man... As need to back him up with some runs!! I mean, I'm not liking this, he's not recovering from the losses. I can't wait until he wins again.

I really like that kid.

As fas as Bonds (or anyone) passing the Babe... I won't like it... But they'll keep coming stronger and faster. But the Babe will be the Babe.

Sammy will pass bonds, all he has to do is keep corking away like he has his whole career

Gaghe set a new record for consecutive saves to start a season, with his 39th save last night vs the Cubs. If what i read was right, the Dodgah bullpen pitched 4 no hit innings.

You know what Kathie, i think the SUnday game will be something like 13-11

Wow, so if you told me before today that the game between the Cards and Braves would end up 3-1 when Garrett Stephenson and Shane Reynolds were starting I would have told you you were crazy.

Big win for the Cards today. They'd lost something like 10 of their last 11 to the Braves. Not exactly the stats you want if you wanna get somewhere in the post-season.

Can I just say that I absolutely love Bo Hart. I'm ready for the Cards to trade away Vina. I think this guy's for real. I hate saying that since he's only been in the majors for 2 months, but he plays hard, makes great defensive plays, is a smart hitter, can run the bases...great lead-off guy.
