Maria got a real tough opponent today who was forced to retire in the 2nd set so Maria advanced to the QF.

she was so sweet to her afterwards, it's a sight to see

unfortunately, Maria had to retire today during her match against Sabalenka due to a leg injury

hope she can recover by the time AO starts but she'll fall behind the rankings and might not be seeded this way

Obviously a disappointing end for Maria.

She did the right thing in retiring from the match. It wasn't worth trying to keep playing through it, especially with the Australian Open around the corner. Hopefully she will be healthy for the Australian Open.

Good win for Maria.

It was a near flawless performance from her, although I must admit that I felt bad for Harriet Dart not winning a game. Still it was a pretty good start to the Australian Open for Maria.

I was very disappointed in the 4th round not because Maria lost, but because of the disgusting behavior the crowd had showed her

Maria had a 7-minute bathroom break before set 3 which isn't against any rules and they booed her like a criminal?? and then at the press conference they asked her about the doping scandal again and the reporters were totally disrespectful towards her.

I thought Maria had the match after set 1 and I'm not sure what happened still, and now we won't even find out because they kept asking her irrelevant questions at the presser, it's really shameful.

hope we can put this tourney behind us fast and that Maria can come back even stronger in the next weeks.
