Sheila, I think I love the move as well, especially from a defensive standpoint. Our teams never have had issue scoring the ball, we just tended to get really lazy on defense at times. Ron sures that up imo,he's lock down on D.
DEFNIITELY. Defensively we just got a WHOLE LOT better. And 3 pt wise too, cuz obviously we can't sboot 3's no more. And you KNOW what you're gna get from Artest. I LOVE IT A LOT.

Trev shot himself in the FOOT with this one. And taking the same amount of money from Houston? You're an idiot Trev. You could've won another championship, not anymore.

Yes, N. Give LO his money. We need out candyman!

We've had interchangeable pieces throughout our last ship run, it's not uncommon. Once we lock LO down I see nothing in our way, it's all still there for us as long as we remain focused and hungry. As someone on sports radio pointed out, Ron sacrificing money in order to potentially play for a title is even more motivation for a champion team. Ron has already shown a BIG piece of dedication. If that is any indication, look out league!

I'm just sad about Trev for many reasons. If this(fingers cross)turns out to be a back to back or threepeat, just sad. Not only that, we won't see Trev recieve his ring on opening night, so unfortunate. I wish Trevor would've reigned his man in(agent). I think deep down the lakers org knew they would lose him, signing Ron was a major insurance policy that is definitely a upgrade, once again I love(d) Trevor but Artest brings more to the party.

After Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest got into that "war of words" in March back in Houston, I asked Kobe what he really thought of Artest.

"We're friends," Kobe said, "I like him a lot--like his game--always have."

Then he told me a story that makes today's news--Artest is supposedly on his way to LA for three years, $18 million--very likely to happen.

Kobe said that after the Lakers lost game six of the '08 NBA Finals in Boston by 39 points, he was alone in the shower, just fuming. He heard somebody walk in and assumed it was one of his teammates, or maybe a staff member. Instead, he looked up, and it was Ron Artest (to this day, Kobe has no idea how Artest got into the locker room).

"I want to come help you," Artest said. "If I can, I'm going to find a way to come to LA and give you the help you need to win a title."
source

well Phil does only do 3-peats oh well and you at least know Ron will be motivated for that ring and Kobe bc well, he always wants it

but yes give LO the money because I couldn't take losing him too and because signing/keeping players gives me headaches

Thanks for that, N.

Wow, stars align. Maybe Ron joining the purple and gold was meant to be.

The lack of drama coming from the LO camp so far is making me feel good about getting him back. I just want it done now!

So its 5 yrs, 33 mil for Trev. Wow Trev. So much better? Not like you'll win another title there.

The Lakers are so bad ass right now, ngl.

seriously, and I mean is it really worth it to not be a contender for a couple more millions? especially for someone like trevor who is said to hate losing?

I would be firing my agent right now if I was him honestly.

I agree a lot with Arash Markazi here

Trev/agent=FAIL! I mean really,wtf.

I feel really good on LO. We have many things working for us, he and Ron are great friends, Ron going on the cheap makes money available, we just won with good chances of repeating, LO will come back.

S,I'm glad the org didn't bite. Trev wanted too much,we have to think long term as well, I mean signing everyone with big contracts basically locks us in w/o many options down the line, it's up to the bosses to keep the franchise viable, it's not like we're the clippers, lakers and fans alike expect a winner, pure and simple. Kudos to Mitch and Dr. Buss.

Serious fail.

Yeah I mean Trevor ended up getting what he should have gotten, he wasn't worth what he though he was. I love him but I am sorry he wasn't especially after having just one good season. The lakers shouldn't have taken the bait his agent was throwing and they didn't. As sad as I am about losing him I trust the organization to make the right decision.

I am really positive about Lamar, plus he was so adamant about wanting to be back he said he would take a paycut if he had too.

Trevor was huge for us this year, but it is true that the Lakers are the ones that actually gave him a chance in the first place.

Ron was just on SC he had me laughing- though that is normal for him I love how happy he is to be here.

He was basically saying how happy he was to be here, and how all he cares about is winning at this point in his career not money. His wife has been talking to Phil. He doesnt know what number he wants to be and he will take suggestions so fans should tweet him. I think that was mainly it

I do too! and I am starting to get really excited I am sad about trev, but at the same time so excited for the team with ron.
