Los Angeles Lakers #65: Guess who's back. Back again. Guess who's back. Guess who's back.
Welcome to the Los Angeles Lakers Appreciation Thread! The Los Angeles Lakers From the George Mikan-led Minneapolis Lakers teams of the '40s and '50s to the "Showtime" era Magic Johnson teams of the late 1980s to Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant's dynasty of the early 21st century, one thing has been consistent about the Lakers: winning. The franchise has boasted a host of Hall of Famers and has compiled a string of championships which has scarcely been rivaled in the history of American sports. the links the fans lakers0604 (sheila) kingjames23 (cristina) nessabruin (nessa) miSStakentriSh (trisha) lysee (rinaye) BrucasForever<3 peanut99 (aimee) coveredinrain (em) NOLA504 (maurice) Icey loppabelle(Sharon) Moon-River (Kristen) memory91 (Raquel) *Glam* (Emma) honeyitsyoursx3 hot_vanilla what are your hopes for next season?

Read Shaq's comments but I've been staying away from ESPN & all the sports media really.

Lakers have been killing me this season. I haven't felt this way since 2006.
Hopefully they win today. They need it badly. __________________

News and Bits I heard
Nash is coming back the next game. Gashol is back already. Now the team chemistry needs to kick in In an espn interview Kobe says he could retire next year or the year after, Howards free throw shooting is not entirely to blame for their struggles. Team Defense is a higher priority among the players A lot of people don't see these guys getting past the second round of the playoffs and certainly not past Oklahoma or even Memphis |

D'Antoni was the WRONG HIRE. They are putting up points, yes! But look @ how much they are giving up. Tonight, 125. DEFENSE was the problem. Even under Brown, they were scoring this year.. top 5 in offense. It was that GOD AWFUL defense. I have a bad feeling about this man. I hope Dwight re-signs in the off-season. I hope D'Antoni is fired and Sloan or Phil (a girl can wish) is brought in. this is just BAD. Even Bickerstaff was so awesome, why? Bc he just let them play! He gave them a ball and said eff the system, have fun. And that WINS ball games. __________________

There have been a lot of injuries. Pau is out. Dwight is still hurt. Nash was hurt. This season is a mess.
Shaq was at the game last night. Quote:
Will Ferrell tried escorted him out of the game. (It was a joke.) __________________

Gotta admit, from a Brit perspective but am have become an avid NBA follower the last couple of years (and went to Olympic mens quarter finals, both semi finals and final, and the recent NBA London game between Knicks and Pistons), I'm quite frankly stunned at how the Lakers are doing. Them, the Knicks and the Celtics are my three favourite teams, and when I heard they signed Howard and Nash in the off-season, I said to my brother that there was little point in any other team turning up this season, as the Lakers had got it in the bag. What happened? I know Dwight's been out with his back, and Nash is struggling to adapt to a new system after so long at the Suns, but where's Pau? Even Kobe last night only registered 4 points. I'm quite frankly at a loss at working out whats going on with them!
