Jeff Gordon - 4 time champion

A thread to discuss one of the best Nacsar dricers ever, Jeff Gordon.

Personal Information:

Jeff was born August 4rth 1971 in Vallejo, California. His parents are Carol Ann Bickford and William Grinnell Gordon he alos has a sister, Kim. Gordon met his first wife Brooke Sealey after he won a Busch race. Sealey was then a college student and had been present as "Miss Winston" in the victory lane in 1992. The pair began dating in secret, due to a rule that didn't allow drivers to date Miss Winston, and were married in 1994. In 2003, Gordon's divorce from Sealey became tabloid fodder. In court papers, she asked for "exclusive use of the couple's oceanfront home, valued at $9 million, as well as alimony, two cars and periodic use of their boats and an airplane."

Gordon was introduced to Ingrid Vandebosch (his secind wife) by a mutual friend in 2002, but they didn't begin dating until 2004 Jeff announced their engagement on June 24, 2006, at a croquet event at Meadowood Resort in St. Helena, California. According to Gordon, they had kept the engagement secret for the past 30 days. Gordon and Vandebosch were married in a small, private ceremony in Mexico on Nov. 7, 2006. On June 20, 2007 Vandebosch gave birth to their first child, Ella Sofia Gordon in New York City.

Gordon owns a private jet, a British Aerospace BAE-125-800 also known as a Hawker 800 with a tail number on this jet matching his car number, N24JG and also owns a Lazzara 106 yacht ironically called the 24 Karat.

In 1999, Jeff Gordon established The Jeff Gordon Foundation to help support children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses. In 2007, Jeff Gordon along with Andre Agassi, Muhammad Ali, Lance Armstrong, Warrick Dunn, Mia Hamm, Tony Hawk, Andrea Jaeger, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Mario Lemieux, Alonzo Mourning, and Cal Ripken, Jr. founded Athletes for Hope, a charitable organization, which helps professional athletes get involved in charitable causes and inspires millions of non-athletes to volunteer and support the community.

Gordons primary sponsor is DuPont, Pepsi and Nicorette both supplement the team as secondary sponsors. Other sponsors include Quaker State, Haas Automation, GMAC, Bosch Spark Plugs, and Georgia-Pacific/Sparkle. He, along with Rick Hendrick, are the co-owners of the #48 Lowe's sponsored team, driven by Jimmie Johnson, who won both the 2006 and 2007 NEXTEL Cup series championship. Gordon also has an equity stake in his own #24 team. He is the winningest driver in the history of Nascar's premier series.

A couple things i love about Jeff Gordon

Even when he is driving a terrible car he can still manage to get a good finish out of it.

His patience is unmatched he has great instincts he knows when to sit back and he knows when to drive hard.

Even after all the disrespect he has been shown by the majority of Nascar fans whether it be implying that he is homosexual (which shouldnt matter). Getting booed when he takes the lead in a race. Or last year when he won a race and stupid fans decided to throw stuff at his car yet he still wasn't mad, he brushed it off and made a joke out off it on how every sport has an athlete that everybody hates.

This week's race is at Martinsville's, Gordon has won the poll.
(his 7th poll at Martinsville)

He is triyng for his 8th M'ville win.

Did anybody catch the m'villle finish from last year? Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon raced side by side the last few laps Gordon didnt win but it was one of the best finishe's ive ever seen.

No problem,

Did anybody watch the race?

Gordon finished 2nd he lead 90 laps. At one point he was 33rd but he battled back to the front.

He would have won the race if it werent for all the lap down cars, namely Kyle Bush who was 56 laps down

Cool thread! Hadn't noticed it before!

Unfortunately not such a good day for Jeff, or Hendrick in general (Jimmie Johnson excepted). It being Texas, though, not a big surprise.

Watching the things that happen to Jeff at Texas, you'd expect Rod Serling to appear at the beginning of the race to narrate.

Still, I bet he'll bounce back at Phoenix. He always seems to be a threat at night races, no matter what the track.

That Texas race was terrible i dont think i have ever seen Jeff Gordon have that bad of a race. The car was bad all weekend during practice and during qualifcations. Shouldn't he have ran with Johnson's setup? I know last year a few times Johnson's car wasn't running well and he switched to Gordon's setup. He had a decent race there last year so i was disapointed.

Gordon has qualified 11 for the Samsung 500 tommorow night.
Has anybody read that article about JG on the Nascar website? Or how about the article in mens vogue?

NASCAR.COM - The 'Fabulous Factor' for Gordon keeps on going up - Apr 11, 2008

By Raygan Swan, it dicuss's all the negative stereo types associated with Jeff.
