Agents and players are dumb to ask for those salaries, but GMs are just as bad to actually give them.

Marian Hossa with Detroit... Too bad. Detroit will still win the cup.

Everytime there's a clear cut favorite on paper to win the Cup, it almost never happens. That's why we have to see what 82 games of regular season and playoffs bring to the teams.

The Red Wings might be a team stacked with superstars and the odds might have played in their favor for them to win the Cup last year but give me a team with a good balance of skill and sandpaper guys and I will garantee that they will give Detroit a run for their money because the one thing Detroit lacks is a nasty edge to their physical game.

In other news, Ottawa signed Jarkko Ruutu. I hate that guy. But I guess that's why he was brought here: to stir sh** up.

I was surprised about Hossa signing with Detroit. I though for sure that he would go to the place that offered him the most.

Avery signed with Dallas. If Avery learns how to not cross the line then it's good, but unfortunately he doesn't know where the line is.

I agree that New Jersey needs a solid D-Man and I was surprised they didn't get one yet. I really hope they don't trade Gionta to get one though.

Avery's a boundless dink, but I'm going to miss him on the Rangers.

He was often bizarrely fun to root for.

Ohh, he'll grow on you. I'll miss hearing RUUUUUUU every time he gets the puck. He scores some pretty sweet goals and does well in shootouts as well as fighting.

Is this why you hate him?

Just kidding.. that might have been too harsh. At least he's on your side now!

I'm surprised that Laroque signed with Montreal. At least he's from there. I don't know why they signed Denis though.

I was surprised that Rob Blake signed with the Sharks. I was hoping for a reunion with the Avs.

Markus Of course he has to go for my least favourite team.

Denis will most likely play in the minors, they have no one there now that Danis signed with the Islanders. If Denis can get his confidence back, he could be a good asset to the 2 rookie goaltenders with the main team.

I'm happy that Georges Laracque sign with Montreal.

Laraque is awesome. He's pretty much a big friendly giant, he did a lot of charity work around town. A lot of other "enforcers" are afraid of him. He's not too fast of a skater, but it's good to have him on a team.

Nah, it's not even the goal scoring on us that irks me: it's rather his antics on the ice and his cheap shots that I can't stand. Does he at least choose his moments to do those antics or does he pretty much screw over the team everytime with bad penalties?

Anyway, regardless of his on ice reputation, I hear he's a good guy for the dressing room? If so, that's a plus because after the implosion we've had last season, we definitely need to clean up our dressing room.

You gotta love what a Ruutu/Bass/Neil line could do on the ice though. This is why Montreal grabbed Laraque.

The Habs already got Lapierre, Begin and Kostopoulos to take care of those 3. Laraque was for McGrattan, but he's gone

Oh, I agree about his stupid penalties. He really didn't take any at all during the Penguins' playoff run this year which was nice. He draws more than he takes, even with his reputation.

He's good for the locker room from what I hear as well. His antics are amusing sometimes.. if he's on your team.

Funny article about the Leafs' signing of Jeff Finger: Did the Leafs Confuse Sauer with Finger or am I Missing Something Here?
