The Oilers are doing some really smart and good trading so far. Brule, Cole and Visnovsky could bring a lot to the team and they didn't give up that much. They have a young core of players ready to step up in Edmonton. Should be a team to watch in the next few years.

I can't say the same thing about the Kings so far. Trading Visnovsky was a bad move by a rebuilding team. He was the defense quarterback, now they have Johnson, Preissing, Greene and Blake on defense? Unless Johnson steps it up and becomes the first rounder he was suppose to be, the Kings aren't in the playoffs for a few more years. They have some good forwards, and a good goalie coming up. Keep Visnovsky would of helped them a lot more, a lot more then getting Gauthier who's career is going downhill.

WTF is wrong with Tampa? They haven't learned anything from giving long term contracts? So they trade Richards' $8 million contract to sign Malone at 4.5, Vrbata at 3 and Prospal at 3.5. Not to take away anything from those guys, but I'll take Richards over any 2 of those guys. In case the GM at Tampa hasn't notice yet, they still have the same ****ty defense and goalie.

Gotta love free agency day.

I think the price for Malone was right but 7 years? That's pretty long. Good for him though.

Not exactly sure what Tampa Bay is trying to do. The general consensus is that they've made some mistakes. Watch.. they might end up doing well next season because a lot doubt them.

Huet is going to Chicago I was really hoping that the Caps could keep him. With the way he was playing I would take him over Theodore. Hopefully the Avs can add another goalie, but I don't think there are any left. I don't think Raycroft can be a starter yet.

Colorado signing Darcy Tucker is quite the surprise. 2 years/ 4.5 million.

I'm thrilled the Caps resigned Green.

The goalie musical chair started.
Huet to Chicago
Theo to the Caps
Raycroft to Avs
Joseph to Toronto
Kolzig to Tampa
Conklin to Detroit

Chicago got the best so far.

Chicago overpaid for Huet though. They have like over 12 million dollars for their 2 goalies now.

Chicago Brian Campbell to 8 years/ 56.8 million dollars. Chicago is going to be a tough team to beat next year.

They do have too much money on goalies, and I doubt they can easily move Khabibulin.

Good move from them on defense, they needed a good "veteran" there. Campbell isn't that old, but sure knows how to play well.

Lastest rumors say that Hossa got 3 offers:
Pens with $7 millions
Oilers closer to $9 millions
Detroit at around $6.5 millions. I don't think anyone is allowed to get more money then Datsyuk in Detroit.

New York Rangers re-sign UFA defenceman Michael Rozsival.

New Jersey signs UFA forward Brian Rolston to a four year deal worth $20-million.

I don't know what Hossa will take. I think it is in between Detroit and whoever offers the most. It all depends on what he truly wants, to be a contender or the most money. I think if he were going to stay with the Pens he would've signed with them already. I don't know if he'll like playing second fiddle to Crosby and Malkin.

I'm happy NJ signed Rolston. They need the offense, so hopefully he will continue producing.

Yeah, but there is always hope. And I am hoping he stays in Pitts.

The Avs are doing terrible so far. Raycroft, seriously? Let me play goal.

I was hoping for Rolston but I wouldn't want the Avs to pay that much.

I'd love to see Hossa back as a Penguin. He's amazing. If not, Jagr as a Pen again wouldn't be so bad either.

I would love it but I don't want the Habs to spend $8 million on him either. Gainey has to remember, and I'm sure he does, that he's got a lot of resigning to do next year. Koivu, Kovalev, Tanguay and Komisarek are all unrestricted next year. On the restricted side, he's got Plekanec, Higgins, and Latendresse to resign. There's a few more but they won't get much of a raise. You can expect a few of those guys to get a nice raise, so he's got to save some cap space.

Bobby Holik! Lord help me! why Lou why? I wanted to inject some youth into the line up. Give the guys that have been rotting in Lowell a chance. I wanted Rolston b/c we needed an extra kick on offense, but the Devils really needed to fix their defensive situation, that is whats killing them. Lou did nothing as of yet to get a puck mover to help the offense get some chances.

There has to be a trade to acquire a D-MAN and unfortunately it will most likely be Gionta, which means I need to a new jersey.

The Finger deal is horrible. the contracts are disgusting (i'm including the devils in this too)....seriously Ryan Malone 4.5 a season? We have learned nothing from the lockout.

Since I don't like the Maple Leafs, I laughed out loud when I read about this deal. No wonder Mats Sundin had a problem with the Toronto management.

But yeah, players and their agents don't seem to get it through their heads that there's a salary cap and other players' salaries to consider if they want be on a competitive team.

As far as my team is concerned, I at the loss of Stillman but that's about it. It seems that we got a fair backup in Auld at a good price considering the FA frenzy so I guess it's good that we filled one of our holes.

There was a rumor floating around the time of the finals and it would have been sweet if it had been true: it was a 'Spezza for Luongo' sort of trade and if there was any legitimacy to these rumors, had I been the GM, I would have done it.
