I thought this was interesting.
Stanley Cup history - NHL - Yahoo! Sports

Have you seen how much bigger in size the Stanley Cup has gotten since it was made?

I believe the Stanley Cup is the greatest trophy in all of sports, every single person gets their name on it...it's a thing of beauty. I've got to make a trip down to Toronto to see it.

Any thoughts on the draft? Devils pick 21st. I'm hoping for Aaron Ness, Jordan Eberle, or John Carlson. These are guys I can see the devils having a chance at getting...we can always trade up and steal someone a la Parise back in 2003, but knowing the devils they'll pick a player who could be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round and waste a pick. But I hope they choose wisely, centers and offensive d-men/pucking moving first please.

it amazes me that a guy like Henrik Zetterberg was taken in the 7th round. Red wings are good at finding gems towards the end.

Oh me too. I think Datsyuk was drafted in the 6th round by the Red Wings.

Dominik Hasek was taken in round 10!! I can't believe that.

The only think I know for sure is that the Lightning will take Steve Stamkos.

It's draft day *looks at ball of hay cross the street*

Actually the draft itself might be boring but we always get a few trades.

Some news for today:
Emery needs a new team, so does Cloutier

Sundin heading to Montreal?
I'll take Jokinen over Sundin, but then Sundin would be free of charge. By that I mean he will be a free agent, but having him in Montreal would be too weird. He's been with the enemy for too long.

Lastest news are saying that the Habs don't have a first round pick for tonight anymore. So they might have traded it for the rights to sign Sundin before July first.

I think the trades took over the poor draft this year.

Jokinen to Phoenix, Tanguay to Montreal, Cammalleri and Umberger also moving. Tomorrow might be fun too

I'm very happy about this one !! And I hope we're going to have Sundin too.

Jokinen to Phoenix is what surprised me the most. I'm also glad that Umberger is no longer a Flyer.

Phoenix definitely got the better end of the Jokinen deal.

L.A's defense is going to be super scary in years to come.

The Islanders had a very good second day....drafted some quality players in the 2nd round.

The Leafs are doing a summer cleaning. Out with Wellwood, Raycroft, and now Tucker. Sundin won't be back and you can pretty much expect one of the big 3 defenseman to be traded too.

FINALLY!

I wouldn't mind if Sundin came back.... but honestly, I'd rather see him go play for a winning team. He's a workhorse who consisently averages about 70+ pts/year and is a solid leader on the ice...so some team will be very lucky if they can land him.

Wellwood had to go. I had such high hopes for him early on. But he's only 25 and has had serious sports hernia already 3 times. Then he broke a toe this summer playing soccer! He's consistently out of shape(making injuries more likely?) and spends way too much time trying to duck hits on the ice. If you are afraid to get hit then you won't last in the NHL.

Raycroft...good riddance!! I couldn't stand his attitude from the moment he got here. He's so apathetic about everything. And he is possibly the worse 3rd period/OT goalie.

As for Tucker...I'll miss his crazy Jack Nicholson-type outbursts. But he is getting worn down, and his non-existent defensive play was only excusable because he got goals. Last season the goals dried up, and we were left with a guy who just stood around waiting for the puck to be passed to him. Perhaps a scenery change will help him. Thanks for the memories Tucks!
