Sad news.

Shaq just offered to pay for the entire funeral at the end of the Heat/Pistons game because he says the family was having difficulties.

Generous, indeed.

My prayers are with the family. I don't really knew him as a player but whenever a star passes, it's very sad. Legends come and go but it never gets any easier.

Ah, that would be a very nice thing for Shaq to do, I hope the family agrees to let him help.

Sad news, indeed.

George Mikan was the first real superstar of the NBA, let alone the first legit big man. In my opinion, he put the league on the map due to his dominance with the Minneapolis Lakers. Heck, rules had to be changed just to stop him from destroying the competition in the post! That says a lot. It’s sad how Mikan’s life ended. The NBA should have offered to provide his family with a better pension plan. He did so much for the league and they showed little appreciation in return. It’s unfortunate.

For those who played basketball, the Mikan drill will live on in infamy.
