Ok yeah I know he doesn't like being called the new Schumacher but he's so cool and composed, it does remind me of Schumi... but yeah ok that's the last time you'll hear me refer to Vettel as baby Schumi

Nice picture. Why did Ferrari take out KERS then, if they're going to use it in Bahrain? And it's just weird, seems like hardly anyone used it in Shanghai, so what's the point of introducing this new technology? Unless they all felt that it'd get wet in the rain and spoil or something.

Funny stuff:

Quote:
Asked by the BBC's David Coulthard why he gives his cars girl's names, Sebastian Vettel could not have looked less concerned by the gusts of wind and rain lashing down on the Shanghai International Circuit. "It's important to have a close relationship with a car," he explained with a grin. "Anyway, you are the man when it comes to women."

...

This man does not do pressure. He even had the wherewithal in the pandemonium afterwards to expand on his earlier theme. "Like a ship, a car should be named after a girl as it's sexy," he said. "My original car was called Kate. But then it got smashed at the opening race in Australia. So we called this one Kate's Dirty Sister because it is more aggressive and faster." What's not to like?

Hee hee oh Seb Vettel. You're so adorable

Spain upgrade is make-or-break for Ferrari

Ferrari have confirmed they would consider writing off the 2009 season if their upgrades for the Spanish GP fail to trigger an instant and vast improvement.

The team's failure to score any points in the opening three races of the season represents their worst start to a campaign in over 20 years and beleaguered Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has conceded that his previously-all-conquering outfit may opt to switch attention to 2010 if the revamp expected to be launched in Barcelona fails to spark an immediate turnaround.

Asked specifically what would persuade the team to focus on 2010, Domenicali told Autosport: "I think for sure we will see after Spain where we are. In that period we will see really what can be the situation - so when we come back to Europe basically."

Barcelona is expected to see the F60 'relaunched' with a two-tier diffuser, although Domenicali has warned that the device's installation will not, in isolation, be sufficient for Ferrari to catch up with Brawn and Red Bull.

"The situation is much more complicated than that," he said. "That device will give you a benefit. But it would be wrong to believe that it is the only key. We have seen, for example, the Red Bull car [without a double diffuser] has done a really great job."

Although Ferrari have suffered for the absence of a double diffuser and endured problems with their KERS system, a general lack of aerodynamic grip appears to be the chief fault of the F60 along with unreliability.

"At the moment we have two issues. One is that we need to improve the car, we need to make the car quicker. And the second is we need to make car reliable, because you can have the quickest car in the world but if you don't finish the race it doesn't matter," observed Felipe Massa.

Those sentiments were echoed by Kimi Raikkonen, with the former World Champion adamant that a new floor will spark a quick comeback.

"We know that once we get to Barcelona we should take a step with the car. We probably don't have the same downforce as the others. When we get the new floor, for sure we will get more downforce and it will make the car faster.

But it will take a little while, so we just need to get through these hard times now. But we're definitely going to get back there."

Source
Wow.

Quote:
Glock should have been penalised for sideswiping Nick Heidfeld on Lap 14 so he was a lucky lucky boy to get away with P7. He admitted an error under braking, like Vettel in Melbourne, but the stewards didn't even investigate it.

How does that work then? Are the rules different if the race is a busy one. You have a driver who doesn't even claim "it's a racing accident" putting his hands up and no sanction. Surely we should review the radio transcripts, dig up YouTube clips and reconvene the stewards in Bahrain and take this further...? Or not as it doesn't involve Mclaren.

Source
And what's this about? Does anyone remember this incident? I need to look for footage, but it sounds horrid. Even as a Timo fan. If it's true he should be punished.

I guess it wasn't beneficial enough to run it in China. Like Ele said, Ferrari intend to run it again this weekend, I wonder if they've solved their KERS reliability problems...? I don't know if Renault are going to use it in Bahrain.

This picture of Vettel is really cute.

Congratulations Ele!

ETA: Kate's Dirty Sister, really?! *can't stop laughing*
I don't remember this Glock-Heidfeld incident, I'd love to see the footage.

Schumacher said in an interview yesterday that Ferrari took KERS out because they had problems with the system and they feared it would impact the performance of the cars. he also added that it would have helped them a lot to drive with KERS in China.

You can call him like you want. If at all I would call him a new and improved Schumi cause his sense of humour is so great as evidenced in calling his car Kate's Dirty sister.

I don't remember the Heidfeld-Glock incident at all and I usually pay more attention to the German drivers. I won't judge it until I see footage of the incident but I'm tired of all those penalties. In the days of Senna and Prost you knew they would both crash into each other and nobody complained. Calm down stewards and get a white visor!

I know I’m late to the party, but my internet connection just wasn't co-operating with me yesterday to come on. I'm so pleased for all 3 guys on the podium, 3 genuine nice guys. Did anyone else find the Jenson/Vettel hugging and excitement adorable? And also how pleased Coulthard got for them that he was all 'i can't speak. I have a dry mouth.'

LOL, that's not the first comment sebbi has made about Coulthards women.

Quote:
Q: You replaced veteran David Coulthard at Red Bull. Can you guess how many interviews he sat through during his F1 career?
SV: He was in Formula One for 15 years, so my guess is that it is probably three times the amount of women he had - something around 30,000?
Incorrect - 55,400 (we’ve no idea about the women!)
This is from the end of the last thread, but i haven't been around and just wanted to voice my agreement, as a Button fan and have been for years.

Quote:
Now I realise that I'm probably the only person who thinks this way - or at least in the minority - and I respect everybody who doesn't share this opinion. And I say this as someone who likes Jensen Button - he was the first driver I liked when I first started watching. But I'm so tired of how Brawn are the media's darling, my local newspaper did a review on Button and even his girlfriend (wtf?) - not unlike how Hamilton was everybody's favourite last season - it just pisses me off. It's all bandwagon-jumping for me.
ITA, I’m a Jenson fan and last year you would have thought Lewis was the only British driver we had. It was like Jenson and Coulthard didn't even exist. Now this year their shafting Hamilton and all 'Button! Button ftw!' and are crawling up his butt. I'm pleased he's getting the recognition and kudos, but I just wish the British media had the conviction to support all our drivers, all the time, and not just when their winning. They were quick to slate Jenson as useless and slag him off before, all 'who cares, we have Lewis' now this year it's like, 'Lewis, who?'But then, that's the case for all sportsmen here, minus the footballers. It's irritating, I agree.

I can't find any footage of the Glock-Heidfeld incident and I don't remember anything like that at all during the race. I'll keep looking but I'm not holding much hope - most of the stuff on YouTube are pictures set to irritating music Nah this isn't about the stewards though Ele, it's from a post-race commentary by someone at PlanetF1.com, I was just wondering if any of you saw it since I think everybody missed it. Very true about the stewards though.

Nah I never intended on calling Vettel baby Schumacher anyway, I only did it that one time because I was struck by how similar they were! And on a related note Vettel is funny though. I loved his Ask the Expert interview, I'm not sure how true the bit about DC's women is though.

Hey welcome welshgirlyUK (I'm sorry, I've forgotten your name). There's no such thing as being late! I didn't see the podium bits because I went to do my work after the race ended, but I can imagine it

Yes thanks! It's not just the English media (although I have plenty of words about how they big up footballers all the time... but that's not for this thread), it's spread to the journalists in most countries it seems. I know bandwagons exist and people like to get on it, it's just that it's really hypocritical and stupid. It's like these people, aren't they even ashamed of how quickly they turn their opinions around?

No problem, i think i forgot to give my name the last time i was here. I'm Tasha! It was tres adorable, they were jumping and hugging behind the podium. And then during the after match analysis, Coulthard had a big grin on his face and just said they are 3 of the nicest guys on the track and how pleased he was, then just said 'i cant talk anymore. I have a dry mouth.' Then, Eddie i think it was, but cant remember now, said 'so what's the tear in your eye all about?' It was sweet.

Oh i could rave all day about the footballers attention too, but yes not the time or thread for that lol. I can't really speak for other countries because i only tend to use the BBC website and daily rag newspapers for sports news, but i imagine the ethos is the same wherever your from. It's such a fickle stance to take, and like you said, i think they do recognise how fickle and wishy washy they are with their support. They have to. They just dont seem to care. As you say, blatant bandwagoning.

I know, I was just saying if the stewarts are getting on some incident between the two that nobody here remembers I'll be pissed.

The hugging between Vettel and Button was cute.
I really love this season so far. Who would have though that Red Bull and Brawn would win races and Ferrari and McLaren have to fight to get points. And they wouldn't celebrate victories like that either.

I just saw a video of Massa and Rob Smedley.
Rob Smedley & Felipe Massa Video - FMassa - MyVideo

And can I be fangirly for one moment and say how hot Webber looked in China. He reminds me of Hugh Jackman.

It's not that bad here in Germany. Not that much Button gossip anyway but also with the 5 German drivers we have. They tend to spread all the attention.

Hey Tasha! I'm Gwen, and I'm from Singapore. So you know what I mean when I say the media around the world's picked up on the Jensen love.

Aww that's really cute. I like how DC's so obviously pleased as well - not just for Jensen, obviously, but for the Red Bull drivers. The photos are lovely as well. Yeah I really love this season too Ele, I love how the usual order has been overturned so completely and how it's making things so much more exciting. And we've seen so much overtaking and incidents and it's just been a really exciting season so far

That's such a cute video too! Hee hee "Felipe baby", I'm never going to forget that. And go ahead! Sometimes I feel embarrassed at being fangirly so I'm glad to know I'm not the only one Yeah Mark Webber is handsome. I really enjoyed the camera following him around in Sepang That's true. There are a lot of German drivers, aren't there?

Hello Gwen, oh wow i didn't realise he was getting world wide recognition. Yay for Jenson. I apologise, i just presumed you were British. Silly me.

You can be fangirly, it's allowed. I had the same thoughts, i believe my reaction was 'well hellooo there Mark Webber. Mother may i?' Not a great thing to say aloud when your watching it with your father. I think i disturbed him a bit.

ita, and i think that's part of why this season is so great, because were getting to see new and different teams be successful, whilst the big guys aren't pulling out the performance were used to seeing. It was becoming in danger of getting stagnant and repetitive and it's brought this freshness to F1 that was needed. I like seeing the new guys winning, it shakes things up a little and throws the gauntlet down to teams like Ferrari to step up their game so they don’t rest on their laurels. It's fantastic.

That's great. I wish our media were the same, it would be nice to see our guys get the equal recognition and attention they deserve. It's lucky for them that Lewis isn't as strong as last season, if him and Jenson were battling it out i think they would spontaneously combust trying to figure out who to give the attention too.

Okay, I think I found the Glock/Heidfeld incident. Not that it's spectacular....

It's a nice change after one and a half decade of Schumacher mania. I was a fan of him but even I thought it was too much.

Wouldn't the UK become nuts if Lewis and Jenson would drive for the championship title at the same time?

Nah it's OK, most people on FF would assume you're American unless you say so explicitly and if not they'd assume you're European or something... Singapore isn't something people would guess

Omg in that case I want to be fangirly. Yeah! I think Nick is ridiculously hot. Only this season though. Last year he was a bit fat But Nick in aviators. I didn't say anything to my dad though! And Mark Webber is really quite classically handsome. I think a lot of the drivers are not bad looking.

Exactly. All the stupid changing of rules, Bernie wanted to make it more competitive. Now that it is, let's hope he doesn't continue changing the rules (fat chance though).

Well they'd probably alternate between drivers? Ok I'm off to watch the video!

I think all males left the thread. Which makes me think of the gender of the posters here lol.

I think Heidfeld doesn't look too bad as long as he finds a scissor to cut his hair and beard sometimes and looks like this.

And I agree there are some handsome drivers.

Too bad they're all hiding under their helmets.

Thanks for all the pretty. Oh hay there Jenson bb, still looking handsome. Has anyone seen his Top Gear episode? So sweet.

Yep, we would spontaneously combust with excitement. Were not used to being good/winning at sports, never mind having two real competitors and now with 6 of the top 10 cars on the leaderboard (i think that's right, but i'm too lazy to google) being made here (Red Bull/Brawn/McLaren)... so if Lewis were to up his game and get back to form this season, then i think this country may erupt into mass hysteria. So not gonna happen though, the god of sports doesn't like us that much. We might get a big head.

Hurrah for the pretty! Although I swear I'm not fangirly all the time. In fact most of the time I'm not. But because I'm being fangirly, let me clarify something: I don't think Nick looks good all the time - sometimes he looks pretty terrible - but when he looks good, he looks really good. Enough that I can overcome my usual dislike for facial hair! He does have a terrible sense of style though. Timo is not bad looking either, but I'm lazy to find a picture. And I'm going to stop now because all this fangirling is frankly making me embarrassed.

Hey any male type persons out there, you can come in and post now!

Yeah in England it's all about the football isn't it. And I looked at the footage, Ele - to be honest it's really hard to judge, it looks like Nick just spun off on his own. But the commentators in the video were saying that Timo hit Nick because they were both travelling too fast so I have no idea!
