I'll probably have some more to say later, but right now just have to add that it was so damn great to see especially those guys score. Reasons being: Zizou? When am I not ecstatic if he scores (ok, maybe not against Finland, but even then if under certain circumstances..). R? After all the crap he's gotten.. and did you just see his face - the guy was over the moon. Raul? Hardly need a reason to be happy for him *G*. Still never seen a guy with the corner of his eye open grinning so widely, hee. He was probably the one I was the happiest for. And Owen got quite a few points just for having been so damn happy when the others scored.

Woiuldn't say that. We'd still have to win 2 + win/draw 1 while they'd have to lose... not exactly likely. I've not found them quite as helpful towards other teams when it comes to frelling up.. one can hope though, of course.

I popped in a bit towards the end of the last thread but I thought I'd say a proper hello here

I support Sunderland, and I have a season ticket. I just renewed my ticket for next season on Saturday so as to not have to pay the increase when the season ends, woo! The caring club I try and go to as many away games per season as I can, but this season I've only managed Leeds and Crewe (thanks to a mixture of being a student with no money, and bad timing. I wanted to go to Wigan but as it was the Easter holidays I wasn't in Sunderland and it was too hard to get there). Although I've applied for our penultimate game (the last away game) against West Ham, so fingers crossed!

We lost to Reading on Saturday We're still 5 points clear of both Wigan and Ipswich at the top, although Ipswich play Wolves tonight so I'm expecting that lead to be reduced to 2 points by then. We've got Ipswich on Sunday, then Leicester, West Ham and Stoke, all tough games really.

We can afford to lose to Ipswich if we win all the rest - we'd still go up (none of us care about being champions, we just want to get promotion!). It's going to be tough, but hopefully we'll manage it!

Zizou almost killing himself to head his in. What a champion.
Beckham was majestic - great performance by him. He was everywhere, and of course set up 2 of the goals.
Owen.. a lot of people said he'd be a total flop in La Liga, but I'm please that he's proved those nay-sayers wrong. Doesn't he have 11 goals in 13 starts or something? Can't argue with that!


And my Gooners are now 3 points ahead of United and are 2nd in the Premiership.

Nikz - Never thought there could be a Real goal against Barca that I wouldn't want to see again and again - especially if scored by Zizou, but good grief! That looked like it must have hurt like crazy *shudder*. Quite a trooper he is for continuing like nothing had happened. Wellm once he got on his feet after a good bit that is. Was kinda worried for him a few times there though.. looked like might have been close to losing his temper. Was ever so happy that he didn't. Not nice too see that guy's temper when he really gets going.

Yeah, it was good to see Beckham doing so well again . He's gotten so much flack that he deserved it. Too bad he didn't get a goal, but hey, it'll be probably needed more next weekend.

Owen has gotten quite a few goals, yeah. Though it's more of a 10+ goals and 10+ starts instead of in, because at least at times, it was like if he was a sub, he was sure to score, but if he started, he had the worst luck. Good to see that turned over, though if he's a sub in the next match, then I sure hope he'll feel free to score .

Have you seen the Inter-Milan game tonight? Disgraceful...these are not fans they are hooligans and shouldn't be allowed to enter the stadium...and their club will suffer because of their actions
I just hope that no incident will happen tomorrow at the Juventus-Liverpool game (I've heard some reports that the Juve 'fans' haven't forgot Heysel - like the current Liverpool fans have anything to do with that...)

Lilith - 5? Wow . I've only seen it that one time live so far. Couldn't be helped because we don't get a rerun before tonight (which reminds me that I ought to go check if it's on the same time as Juve - Pool..) and there's just no way I'd tape a match that important live - I'm far, far too superstitious for that .

I heard about that - not exactly nice stuff to hear . I hope today's matches go without any trouble (and that Pool goes through )

Yeah, our sport channle is in love with Spanish football and especially Real Madrid - not that I complain So there have been already 4 reruns And I taped the match as well, so I can watch it ayntime I want...yeah, I have no life whatsoever

I hope today's matches go without any trouble (and that Pool goes through )

i hope liverpool go through too - i'm a massive fan. even though i've got major exams in two days i'm still going to the pub to watch the game tonight.

i'm a bit apprehensive about them playing in italy though - have you seen all the stuff on the news about the milan match where the match was called off after 70 minutes because of the crowd problems and the goalie got hit by a lit flare and has 2nd degree burns to part of his head??? there may be trouble ahead.....

Aww, I hope ours were too, but it's looking more like they're in love with Barca . But at least it's not as bad as everytime that Real's not on, Barca is. They've managed to show a few Atletico matches too that haven't been against any of the big ones. Valencia matches too, but for some reason it feels like there's been more Atletico than V which has surprised me, but in a very good way. I much prefer watching Torres & Grönkjaer *g*.

Good taste . Neither do I though I do still kinda have a sort of soft spot for Juve though it nowadays mostly consists of vaguely wishing them well just because Sarah's (who's been a naughty girl.. hasn't posted here even close to enough lately ) a fan, heh. If I don't have real favourites of my own in matches, I tend to hope that whoever my friends root for, wins. But tonight? It's more of a Finland - Italy rematch for me, so I definitely know who I'm rooting for . Sure there might be only one Finn present, but I'm willing to overlook that .

Tigger817 - One must have one's prioritites straight, right . I don't have any exams coming right now, but there's this damnable essay that I'm probably supposed to be writing and this frelling C-program I ought to be designing and blah, blah ... you know how it goes . But football first *g*. Still, best of luck with those exams

ETA: I'm actually not quite that worried. I dunno, but for some reason I have a feeling Juve's fans will behave a bit more like decent human beings. And that there's won't be too much trouble with people we wouldn't even classify as fans. I certainly hope my guts are right about this one..
