Football (Soccer) Thread #101 - "The stars shine more on the turf than in the sky"

No big opening now as I can't think of much to say - except shame on you all for making me start this

And Hala Madrid of course since the boys play against Zaragoza tonight .

As for the title? Inspiration from a Queiroz quote from last summer . The whole thing was: "Queremos estrellas en el campo y no en el cielo. Brillan más en el césped que en el cielo." Translates to: "We want stars on the field and not in the sky. They shine more on the turf than in the sky."

ed: and only now did I realise I still have the same quote as my sig - amazing memory I possess

Hey

Damn, I came here a while ago and saw the old one'd reached 250 and been closed and for a minute pondered if I should... but then I ended up slinking away *G*. then I came back later and refreshed the main page a couple of times to see if anyone had started a new one.. then I finally gave up, took a deep breath and got over myself .

ed: Oh! I went to see Kill Bill earlier today . Had a great time of course . Only downside was that there was this older woman on my left side who kept sighing and pretty much just sounding like she wasn't getting it at all..

I actually did the exact same thing - the pondering and refreshing bit

She sighed at watching Kill Bill? Heh, the other day when P & I watched it, we almost got into a small quarrel after the movie Kind of my fault though cos I hushed at him a few times when he tried asking so many questions while I was concentrating

Anyway, have you sen the goal clis I posted at the previous thread?

Yeah, was kinda easy to figure out it wasn't her kinda movie. She should've gone see the Sibelius flick that's still in cinemas here (Sibelius was a Finnish composer, lived 1865-1957.. more commonly knows as Sibbe becuase his face adorned the 100 mk bills *G*.)...

Aw, I understand you getting disgruntled.. it can get a big irritating. Though I don't think I've ever been entirely quiet for the whole duration of a movie before the first LOTR either so maybe I should shut up *G*. Granted it's usually been something like pass the whatever or to ask if someone recognized a song in the background or something like that. Not like I call all my acquaintances to catch up while watching a movie .

Not yet. Mikko's on a mad downloading spree as he finally got some empty DVDs, so the bandwidth is pretty much nonexistent.. I'll see them as soon as I can get a bit more speed .

Heh, normally I'd go complain about it to him, but now I'm letting him have it all as I'm enjoying the perks too: like now I'm in the middle of watching the Matrix Reloaded that he burned and the quality is bloody amazing . It's honest to god better than the quality of plenty of DVDs I've bought and rented

I don't normally keep too quiet myself at the movies either, but I dunno why the other day I got slightly irked by questions like "Why the heck did she knock her head like that?" and "Where did that sound come from?" *spanks self*

ahh, okay Let me know what you think once you get a chance to see those Matrix Reloaded? I'm not really too fond of that movie. I don't think I'm even going to watch Part III when it's out

ehem, okay back to Football :

This Saturday will be one of Serie A's big games - Milan vs Juve Currently Milan & Juve share the same number of points, only they lead the table due to goal difference. So the winner of this game will take the lead in the scudetto race.

I can't believe I posted a small announcement, only to find out that it's on a duplicate thread. Oh, well. Too bad I don't mod this board.

Heh, I loved the action and Mr. Smith too of course (I've adored the actor ever since I saw "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" ages ago ), but other than that, yeah, it wasn't quite as great as the first, but then again.. those in the middle movies are always a tad hard.. I'm definitely going to see the last one too . It comes out here on the 5th, but I'm going to see it with Mikko on the 9th since my birthday is the perfect reason to make my folks foot the bill

Movietime Blues - you posted on the other thread, but I'll put this here: congrats on becoming a mod . Charmed? I've watched it every once in a while as I'm a bit of a Julian McMahon fan from the days when we used to the get NBC and they were airing Profiler. Seems like such a long time ago.. As for Charmed, we still haven't even gotten to the episodes with Rose McGowan here..

Football? Yes, yes, to get back on topic: iff I remember correctly, the Real match starts in about an hour and a half .

ps. damn, now Mikko brought me Terminator 3 too *G*. I have a bad feeling I'll still be up at 3 AM watching movies . Well... there are worse things .

Only thing is, after all this action, I'll most likely be left wanting to see something different.. then again, I could always watch Y tu mama tambien again *G*.

Aww, you poor little thing . I had one earlier too, but it seemed to dissappear thanks to my dear friend Panadolin.

Thanks hun . If it ends well, then I think the little puppy will come out to play again

G'night & sweet painfree dreams hun

Hey MB Congrats on becoming mod I'm not a Charmed follower though, only watched it when there's no football or any other interesting stuff on tv .

T, hmm, sounds like a good birthday present for you I hope you'll enjoy it

now, I'm really off

That's OK. I'm not expecting anyone to like any show.

Back to football. I was actually surprised that Fulham pulled off a win at Old Trafford. Nobody was expecting that result, not even the most optimistic Cottagers fans. But all that did was bring Arsenal back to the top. If only my Man City could win one at Stamford Bridge...

Pavon got a yellow .

I wonder if there's any site that would have up how many cards the guys have gotten . So you could seen how many they can get before they have to miss a game...
