Desolate thread. Kinda fits with my desolate mood after Crewe's relegation were finalized last night. I know it's about how you perform through 46 games, and the table never lie, but it's still disappointing after we refound our form with just two losses in the last 11 games - we just performed too badly before Christmas. Hopefully, we'll be up there fighting for at least a playoff spot next season, and truth be told, there is a lot bigger clubs than us in League One (Bristol City, Oldham, Bradford, Tranmere, possibly Forest).

Oh, that sucks I (think I) understand how you feel! I'm sorry there's always next season though. And hopefully the good run that Crewe put together will continue next season and that'd get you guys promoted right back into the Championship!

I'm going to forgo sleep for the Champions League Semi-Finals (they're at 2.30am here): Barcelona against AC Milan tomorrow night, and Arsenal against Villarreal the next night. I can't wait And I converted a friend of mine to like Arsenal, so hooray!

Last ever Highbury derby between Arsenal and Spuds Spurs tonight. And the Villarreal game was the last European night at Highbury. There's all these closures, and it makes me sad. But I guess that's just life when your team moves to a new home. I just really, really hate that the new stadium will be called Emirates Stadium for the next 15 seasons or something. Highbury's such a beatiful name (to go with such a beautiful stadium)!

This place is so dead where is everyone?

*watches tumbleweed fly by* People, we don't bite. Come post! Yes, Emirates' Stadium is a bit annoying, but it's the way of the world these days - you need to do everything to raise money, unfortunately.

Crewe lost the penultimate Championship game 1-0 to Leeds. Millwall next Sunday in the last game of the season... we'll meet them again next year.

Steven Gerrard won PFA Player of the Year last night. Wayne Rooney got Young Player of the Year.

Yeah, I saw that ... seems okay, though perhaps Lampard would have been a better choice. And appearantly Luiz Filipe Scolari is on the verge on being named England manager.

Serious? After all the fuss about the manager being English and all? Oh, hey, what do all of you think, should managers be the same nationality as the team they coach? I don't think so. I think it should just be based on who's the right man for the job.

I see Crewe are second from bottom, and while the team has been relegated there's pride in not being last. So yay! And yeah Millwall and Brighton are the other two teams to go down, right?

I was (obviously) hoping that Henry and Fabregas would clinch the awards. Apprarently not, but out of the rest I guess Gerrard is not bad, and Rooney was fantastic against Arsenal. But still. Bleh.

Money! I know, but still. Highbury! I'll only get to see the stadium for 90 minutes against Wigan, and yes it's not the same watching on TV as compared to being there, but I'm feeling sad already at the thought and I'm sure I'm only going to get sadder at that one final game. But looking forward and there's tomorrow morning's match against Villarreal at the El Madrigal and the fact that we're favourites to go through scares me more than anything else. It's strange to be the favourites for once, and with this amount of expectation, I think I'd just kill myself if we don't get through. Argh!

If we had gotten a manager that would bring Norway to a major championship again, I wouldn't care if he came from Norway, England, China or the moon. And yeah, Millwall and Brighton are the other two - if we beat Millwall we'll finish third from bottom - I don't wanna get relegated as the bottom club.

And lucky, lucky Arsenal. Congrats to them anyway... I was rooting for Villarreal, but their behaviour (diving and generally being unsympathetic) didn't make that easy.

I know! That was a truly terrible performance from Arsenal, and we really rode our luck, I have to admit. We seemed completely incompetent in going forward and it made for difficult viewing - especially because Arsenal, when on song, play particularly beautiful football. But as a fan I must say that I'm glad we got to the finals (obviously). Villarreal, though, that was never a penalty, so I guess it was justice that Jens saved it they dived a lot and generally were rather dirty, so it's not like they were much worthier of the finals than we were. Heh heh heh. And so if it's our entire season in the CL that makes us deserve this final, rather than the quality of the second leg against Villarreal, then I'll take it. Gladly.

Ha, if there was a manager of Singapore that would even deliver us anywhere close to a major football tournament (ASEAN Games doesn't quite count), I'd go with him to the ends of the earth. I never understood what was with the whole same nationality thing anyway. If you don't discriminate in any other job, why should the manager of a football team be any different?

First of all: *bear hugs* Dan - I know it wasn't exactly a surprise by this point, but still..

Second: FF is back, but is it still ridiculously slow for you guys?

Third: Zizou scored!! Okay, so it was penalty, but still. With him retiring ( ), I'll take what I can. Just one thing: Why the hell did he have to decide to retire now??! The summer job thing worked out (can't express how fecking relieved I am about that, I mean sure it was pretty much decided a few weeks ago, but I'm just so damn superstitious about such things), so now I've got three months of job practise with decent pay coming this summer, and hence an autumn trip to Madrid actually looks doable at the moment.

Lets put it this way; they get rid of Ivan? I'm going to be severely pissed off .

ETA: my reaction to the final pair of the CL was pretty much: "Eh *shrug*"... Still, I'll be happier if Barca doesn't win, but if they do, it won't be the end of the world. Real's three CL titles in six years is still rather recent after all

T! I was about to send out a search party for you. Congrats on the summer job. And Zizou or no Zizou, going to Madrid should be an experience if you can. Would you believe that I still haven't gone to see Crewe because it's really too long for an away trip and they played Southampton before I got here? I'm just hoping that some of the more accessible away games in the League One (especially Bournemouth, which is just up the coast) is before I leave.

And Scolari was offered the England job before turning it down again. Appearantly he got death threats and besieged by the tabloid rags. Story here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...ls/4955490.stm.

Aww . Thanks!! The whole being a bit awol bit was because I've been ridiculously busy with with school. And the ridiculous part comes from the fact that it's not even from the courses that I have, but from all these damned projects that I've agreed to take part in . Hell, just today we were analyzing some usability study related stuff and when we had a break? I had to go and present the teacher who's running the project with a seven-page plan for a whole new project that I'd also work on during the summer .

It's all kind of crazy right now with so much to do, but honestly said, I don't think I've been happier in quite a bit because all this stuff is exactly what I might be doing after I graduate - unlike the assignments I've been doing for actual courses! Not that I actually have many of them right now . I think the best was the digital image manipulation course I was supposed to have in this period; I went to the class once, showed the teacher the proto type of my portfolio and he said that if I'd do one of the practice assignments, he'd grade me based on that.. I did it and got a 5 from 5 and that was it *g*.

About Madrid - Oh that it definitely will be and not just for the football related stuff. If it was just for the football, a weekend might do, but I want to spend at least a day just wandering through the Prado and then there's the modern art museum named after Sofia and and and .

Still haven't seen your boys?? Aww . I'll definitely have my fingers crossed for that .

You know, I just installed MSN again, so if my computer doesn't get all crazy from it again and you're still using it... .

Hello, T! It's nice to see you back School sounds incredibly crazy for you, but you're happy and that's the most important thing. I dunno, I just find it funny when footballers say they retire and then they come back. It's like it demeans the whole thing. But still, Zizou is up there with the best, and the more years that football fans all over can see him play, the better it is!

I have never seen Arsenal play either and I dearly want the chance to, but it's a 14 hour flight to London and incredibly expensive too, so that sucks. But I swear, one match in my life, at least. And I want to spend more time there than just the match, too! Madrid would be fantastic, I would love to go there too.

I think the whole media pressure on Scolari was really stupid. But then again anything surrounding England's national team tends to become a media circus, and I don't like them, so ha to them.

FF is okay for me. The quick reply thing does take longer than usual to appear, but I don't have much of a problem with that.

And yeah, I'm still using MSN, so feel free to hit me up for a chat.
