TFTNF. I love the title.

You're welcome. Me too. :D I wonder if the OP should be updated.

So, Neymar to PSG happened. The transfer sum is still completely insane.

Ms Cyatt 08-03-2017 06:15 PM

Yeah that was some crazy Neymar drama. Why did he want to leave Barcelona?

Cereal Killer 08-04-2017 01:57 AM

It was. I'm not sure why he wanted to leave, maybe he wanted a new challenge. And of course the new deal is also really freaking lucrative, there's no denying that. He did talk about his decision in his goodbye video:

I don't really like him much but I thought this was really nice and heartfelt. :)

Ms Cyatt 08-04-2017 06:45 AM

Do you think Messi had something to do with him wanting to leave?

Cereal Killer 08-04-2017 09:27 AM

Well, Messi will always be #1 at Barca. And I personally did think Neymar was in his shadow there and maybe this transfer had something to do with him wanting to be the main star of his team. But who knows. (I also read that he decided to leave after the comeback against PSG because he did most of the work but Messi got the credit. But that's just too much of a rumor/speculation about Barca that I don't bother to get involved in.)

Ms Cyatt 08-04-2017 10:26 AM

Yeah I get that. Neymar wanted to be the man but as long as Messi is playing that won't and can't happen. I know Neymar is an international star but he doesn't seem to have the superstar power over here as Messi and Ronaldo.

The commentators here didn't get why Neymar would want to play in France. They said it wasn't a top 4 league in Europe.

Honestly never expected it to happen. So INSANE

It really isn't. They are doing a lot better but they are still far behind Germany, Spain and England. Still a long way to go.

Yeah exactly. And you're right, Neymar's one of the biggest football stars nowadays, but behind Messi and Ronaldo what comes to global recognition. Who knows, maybe he'll be #1 when those two retire.

It is peculiar. Like Jess said, it's definitely behind the top 4 leagues of Europe. I guess he just couldn't say no to the offer they made him.

I thought it was just a crazy rumor. But this shows anything can happen in football. Although the market is completely inflated right now. That bubble has to burst sometime, doesn't it?

Also Italy. Of course a player like Neymar can help the league become better. But I agree with you that it's still a long way to go.

Anyways, Uefa Super Cup tomorrow! :yay: Real Madrid vs. Manchester United. I missed seeing my team play. :D (Competitive football I mean, who cares about those friendlies? xD)

I know right? My team lost a few friendly games and the press is freaking out. :crazy;

Cereal Killer 08-10-2017 10:17 AM

Haha, I know. Real Madrid lost all their pre-season friendlies (except against MLS all-stars after a penalty shootout), that didn't look good.

But it didn't matter because they won the UEFA Super Cup! :yay: What a great start for the season. :D So that shows those pre-season games don't necessarily mean anything.

Next up two legged El Clasico for the Spanish Super Cup. Not sure if I will survive that. :thud:
