Thanks for the new thread

World Cup draw:

Quote:
2010 World Cup draw

Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France

Group B: Argentina, South Korea, Nigeria, Greece

Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia

Group D: Germany, Australia, Ghana, Serbia

Group E: Netherlands, Japan, Cameroon, Denmark

Group F: Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia

Group G: Brazil, North Korea, Ivory Cost, Portugal

Group H: Spain, Honduras, Chile, Switzerland
I think the USA will be a tough match for us but I think we got a pretty good draw, Group G looks so tough.

As for the seeding, I probably like it more for selfish reasons right now than anything else. If we hadn't been seeded as one of the eight then perhaps I wouldn't like it as much. However you wouldn't want 4 great teams all in one group, and 4 not so good teams in another, as then some really good teams will go out in the early stages and some fairly average teams will manage to make it further, which will only then make it easier for those big teams when they get to play them. The competition should get harder as it goes on. You're going to have to play the big teams at some point but you want the best teams to at least be able to go through and still be in the competition after the group stage. The whole point is you have to beat the best to win.

Thanks for the new thread. Like the title.

The groups look rather dull though ... none that really stands out for me. Though I'd love to see Magic Madjid Bougherra (ex-Crewe!) put Rooney in his pocket for the entire game.

I think Group G is ok, not too hard, not too easy, well, at least for Brazil =]!

Group A looks tough too... but I think Spain and England got pretty easy groups.

I'm SO excited for the World Cup, and so is my whole country. Now I just hope they give Ronaldo a chance to play his 5th cup!

all

I seriously need to stop letting work swamp me and got to concentrate on what's important - that being Real Madrid's season!

Last weekend Barca - Real did have me biting my nails, but I can't say I'm surprised with the result - as much as saying that hurts me.

Anyway, Real's playing agaist Almeria tomorrow at the Bernabeu and I'm hoping they'll have a match as good as the one against Xerez that I was happy enough to see *fingers crossed*

ps. here are some a bit random photos from the Madrid & Barcelona trip from September

ETA: I'm going to be in London during the week 10 of 2010, so if anoyone has any tip on what to do, I'm all ears!

This is all too exciting.

Group A looks very interesting to say the least actually quite intense a great way to start off the World Cup!

Why do England always get a relatively piss easy group every single time? It bothers me to admit it, but I think they will actually do pretty well.

Brazilian 2009 Championship ends on Sunday. Was pretty intense and exciting... but bring on the World Cup.

I think Spain will do really well on the World Cup. I feel sorry for South Africa. It seems like they might not get past the first round.

Group G looks tough. I don't think we have it that easy because everybody seems to lift up their game but I think we definately have a group where we have a good chance in

USA are not an easy team, they ended Spain's unbeaten run. And I actually think Group A is quite open, the French are not as tough as they once used to be, they are lucky to even be in it, and South Africa will obviously have huge support which I'm sure will lift them. The only reason I didn't want France in England's group was because of the bad memories I have of us throwing away a 1-0 lead in injury time and losing 1-2 to them.

damn Portugal never had luck in these things.
