| Football/Soccer #112: Joga Bonito. Play Beautiful. Realised my post was #300 so it's time for a new thread! ![]() We shall celebrate it by rejoicing in Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Porto and Real beating...somebody 5-1. Even if Ruud van Nistelrooy scored 2 goals in there ![]() __________________ she can stop traffic, she can do magic ; | |||

| Let's just concentrate on celebrating the wins and the fact that Raul scored twice . And his other one wasn't even a penalty .By the way, the match did once again manage to reinforce those damn superstitions of mine . I'd gone on a day trip to Tallinn that day, so I only got home when half of it had already been played. So I check AS and see it's 2-0 and I'm quite pleased. Do a bit of unpacking and get back to my computer and find a working stream of the match. And what happens? I'd managed to miss the third goal of Real's by being a bit late, so the the minute I get the video stream? Dynamo goes and bloody well scores . So yes, I admit, I shut it off pretty quickly . The next time I dare to check the score from AS? It's that 5-1! Seriously this is not doing any good for my mental health!! *G*About the document thingie - yeah, I'm going to turn off the subtitles or just fast-forward the Perez bits. It has too many lovely clips to be abandoned just because Perez is an idiot ![]() ETA: Just saw the goals and feck it, I can't help but adore Reyes a tiny bit for that goal . Mainly because it reminded me of Macca's goal against V in the 2000 CL final *g*__________________ "Still, the underlying point held; experience as well as common sense indicated that the most reliable method of avoiding self-extinction was to not equip oneself with the means to accomplish it in the first place." ![]() True, Raul scoring two is a nice sight, especially since he hasn't scored for so long. He's been dropped from the Spanish squad? and Makalele's being forced to play for France again. Usually I hate Mourinho with a passion, but he has a good point when he said Makalele shouldn't be forced to play against his wishes. I would be supremely pissed if I were him. (Makalele, that is). I don't know what the Domenech is up to, really.Today Arsenal play Charlton. It's a good time to thrash them, I would certainly enjoy a good thrashing. __________________ she can stop traffic, she can do magic ; | |||

| Aww . I think my view of falling down a lot is rather warped because I've seen him play with Cassano and I doubt anyone but Totti can manage fall down that much! So by comparison and all that.. SI'm not sure about Raul. The last I saw of that on AS was that he was in the squad against Sweden. Shall have to check it. Eh, I couldn't give a flying f... about Makelele. He's pretty much a persona non grata to me. Has been ever his "psychological problems". I mean a guy actually goes to a shrink to get a piece of paper saying he's too depressed or what the f ever, just so that club would cough up more money? As if. He was a decent player, yes, but I never missed him because if I'd see him in a Real shirt after that... well, lets just say that I don't think I even know the swear words for that. On the other hand, another player I really disliked definitely gets my sympathies: Dario Silva was in a car accident and they had to amputate one of his legs. He wasn't at any club right now and he'd been quite the prick imo before, but that? That I'd not hope on anyone. So what with that happening to Silva... I do get why Makelele would be pissed off, but the way I see it, he's pretty well off, so.. And in not so somber news: Urheilukanava got the rights to show la liga after all!! . Apparently they'd been haggling over the prices for weeks and finally agreed. So this tomorrow's Madrid derby is on live here! Which of course makes me pretty damn nervous due to certain superstitions, but there's always the remote controller if things get too tough .Good luck to your guys ![]() __________________ "Still, the underlying point held; experience as well as common sense indicated that the most reliable method of avoiding self-extinction was to not equip oneself with the means to accomplish it in the first place." | |||

| That's what the sports pages here said, I don't know and Totti. Heh. Gifted player, but just so inconsistent and immature - I don't see why the Italians see him as their "saviour" and all that...well T I know about the whole Silva situation and while that's not something I would wish on anyone, not even Cashley Cole (an own-goal or two from him at Highbury would suffice nicely ) I still don't think it's right that someone has to play against his wishes. If he has submitted his resignation through the official channels that should be the end.Awww Dan all the best to you then of course winning is the point, but you know. I'm being optimistic here, thinking we should be able to beat Charlton quite comfortably.Let's hope that doens't come and bite me in the ass later. __________________ she can stop traffic, she can do magic ; | |||

| Dan - Maybe you could take Capello out of our hands then? I think he could definitely learn a thing or two or dozen from Dario . Can't help it, but seeing him just yelling there on the side lines.. arf, the man looks like he has all of two expressions and neither are ones I care to look at. Gwen - I don't think it's right either - in principle. Those just apply strangely to Makelele in my case because the idiot still pisses me off massively, heh. Saw that Arsenal won which is good, that Pool lost which is bad (though on the other hand, I do like Jässi more than Hyypiä, so by the Finn-o-meter, it was a good result *g*) and that Chelsea drew which while not good, isn't all bad either ![]() __________________ "Still, the underlying point held; experience as well as common sense indicated that the most reliable method of avoiding self-extinction was to not equip oneself with the means to accomplish it in the first place." | |||

| Sure, but only after Dario has resigned. Crewe 5, Carlisle 1. A nice bounce-back after two away-defeats - we're 4-1-1 at home but only 1-1-4 away, which is the reason we're only tenth. If we can regain some away form then we should be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.__________________ "We learned more from a three minute record than we ever learned in school." | No, no, no - I meant you need to take him now and make him something like a ball boy . See that way he could actually learn from Dario - straight from the source and all that . Lovely result that ![]() Real - Atletico tonight and I'm already about to soil my pants ![]() __________________ "Still, the underlying point held; experience as well as common sense indicated that the most reliable method of avoiding self-extinction was to not equip oneself with the means to accomplish it in the first place." | |||

| Of course you did . Thanks - they're so going to need that ![]() ETA: And the greedy bastards could've used a bit more, dammit . Well, at least Raul scored again (yay ) and it was an equalizer.. Ramos got a kick in the face and managed to get two yellows.. Torres I really don't like right now, but that's probably nothing all that surprising. Just kinda sad that it feels kinda like he's slipping in Joaquin's company. Meaning someone I'd hoped to like because they could be good for the national team, but that their antics just kinda ruin it. Anyways, since it apparently had to be a draw, I have to say did kinda like it that the goal that Real managed to score was a Raul one from Guti's pass and not one made by the new guys. I'm still resisting the change ![]() __________________ "Still, the underlying point held; experience as well as common sense indicated that the most reliable method of avoiding self-extinction was to not equip oneself with the means to accomplish it in the first place." | Yeah, I heard Real drew with Athletico and they got jeers from the fans. I don't profess to know much about La Liga football and their fans, but it seems really fickle (granted, I know Real supporters are a fickle lot in general not you T!) but it does seem a bit mad. It's one bad result, isn't it? Hardly relegation fodder. Oh well.Congratulations, that is a great score by Crewe Ooh, and Robin van Persie scored what is probably his best goal of his career as we won 2-1 at Charlton I'll dig up the video soon. Or you can just go to my LJ. Stupid internationals though, the minute we string together a good run, they have to come and disrupt it all.__________________ she can stop traffic, she can do magic ; | |||

| That was quite a stunning goal by van Persie on Saturday. Goal of the season perhaps? Or is it too soon to say. Doubt we'll see many quite as good as it. __________________ "I think of your hands and calculate how a man, desired, feels the weight of a letter. It's true what they say about me. | Maybe. I was stunned when it went in. Wasn't expecting a goal at all. It's one of those where the more you watch the more you marvel at its difficulty. I've found the video! Go on, you won't regret it ![]() __________________ she can stop traffic, she can do magic ; | |||

| A real stunner. Can't quite picture Darren Fletcher scoring one of those. ![]() __________________ "I think of your hands and calculate how a man, desired, feels the weight of a letter.
