Oh wow, I really suck. I think out of the movies mentioned in the article, I only saw Varsity Blues.

That’s an interesting read.

I always thought The Program provided a pretty realistic portrayal of big-time college football. The acting was shoddy, but the story was quite believable. In some ways, I think Varsity Blues had many elements of truth about HS football in Texas, even though that fact was sometimes covered up by MTV-style whipped cream bikini and “my teacher as a stripper” scenes.

From what I’ve read, Friday Night Lights is supposed to be one of the best sports movies of all-time. That’s quite high praise. The fact that it’s being hailed as the football equivalent of Hoosiers is pretty impressive. Once again, this film is about HS football in the state of Texas. I’ll have to check it out.

Even though I'm not a guy, I find the whipped cream bikini scene and the teacher as a stripper scene more entertaining than the football scenes. I'm not much of a football fan. I think I'd be more interested in sports movies about basketball, soccer, or even baseball.

I've always wondered how accurate football movies really are.

The Program is one of my favorite sports movies. I agree, Kathie, it seemed fairly realistic to me.

Living in the south, football truly is a religion...especially on Friday nights. Around here, high school football is just as popular as college ball, so I definitely found most of Varsity Blues realistic.

As for Friday Night Lights, my boyfriend really liked the book, and I've heard good things about the movie, too. I'm sure Brent and I will be seeing it soon. Checking out the IMDB list, I'm glad to see Lucas Black is back on the big screen.

Interesting article.

Out of those movies, I only saw "Remember The Titans" (which I LOVED) and "Any Given Sunday".
