Sports - FF Fantasy Football Draft Thread

I decided to start the draft thread over here.

Start Date: Monday July 20, 12:00 AM EST

Here are some details to keep in mind during the draft:

RULES:

~Draft order will be determined by a first come, first serve basis in the first round. The snaking method will be implemented for the rest of the draft. This means that if you make the first overall selection, then you will be the last one to pick in the second round.

~24-hour rule. You have twenty-four hours to make your selection. Should you not do so within this timeframe, then we will auto-draft the next highest rated player from Yahoo’s rankings. An effort will be made to help fill open positions left on your roster. (Please make an effort to make your selections as quickly as possible. We would like to complete the draft in a timely manner. If you know that you will not be able to be at the board to make your next pick, then it would be a good idea to PM your picks to someone you trust.)

~This is not necessarily a “rule,” but please heed this suggestion. Try to keep track of everyone’s picks and cross off players that have already been selected. This will prevent accidental duplicate picks and keep the draft rolling smoothly.

~Once you have made a pick, there is no going back. If a player happens to get injured in the preseason, that is a difficult break. However, you cannot do anything with that player until after the draft is completed.

I was just on Yahoo looking over some fantasy football stuff, and found some results from past FF fantasy football leagues. Check them out:

2008 Champion: Mongolian Henchmen (The Daywalker)
2007 Champion: Salsa Sharks (sf3000)
2006 Champion: BB's Ballerinas (BB.)
2005 Champion: Avatar Avengers (Avatar)
2004 Champion: ???
2003 Champion: Grrlachers Goons (Chi159)

The best I've finished is 2nd in 2006 and 2007. I think I'm due for a win. This year the drought will end!!

I've had a five-year drought! It's time to change that.

Glad to see that my rules as ex-commish are still in place. I made those up when we did the scoring system at the board (pre-Yahoo). Needless to say, that didn't last too long.

Yeah, I was trying to write the rules in my own words, but just couldn't get it down. So I said to hell with this and went to the old thread and cut and paste your rules.

And I still remember those pre-Yahoo days. My God, we use to have people calculate the results and then post them on the board. I remember we had an NBA league and had to calculate the stats nearly everyday! Thank God for Yahoo!

It's less than an hour 'til draft time! It'll be interesting to see who goes first.

I've always wanted to draft an "All-Name" team. Just guys with cool sounding names like "Plexiglass" Burress, Joe Jurevicius, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, D'Qwell Jackson, Asante Samuel, Warrick Dunn, Oshiomogho Atogwe. I doubt I'd do too well, though.

I drafted an all-Raptors team in a basketball league once and surprisingly didn't finish in last.

I ended up finishing 7th out of 12.

So when it's midnight does the person who goes first pick someone or are we just setting up an order

Whoever posts first gets the player they post. Just make sure you don't post too early. We'll go with the Fanforum clock as the official time.

The first round is setting the order, and then we cycle backwards and snake on through.

I'll buck conventional wisdom with my pick. With their first round pick, Grrrlacher's Goons select Michael "The Burner" Turner, RB, Atlanta Falcons.
