His second name ("Ronaldo") is relatively rare in Portugal, as his parents chose to name him in honour of the late US president Ronald Reagan, who was his father's favourite actor. He first began kicking a football when he was two or three, and when he started primary school at age six, his passion for the sport was obvious.
