Brett Favre SI Sportsman of the Year 2007

I checked around for a Brett Favre thread and didn't see one....so here goes! What do you think of this 38 year old QB from the Green Bay Packers? Personally I am a huge Packers fan so I couldn't be happier....I can't believe how well he's been playing this year....well minus the Dallas game last week....but hopefully he'll be able to redeem himself and keep the streak alive this Sunday!
I think he definitely deserves the title of Sportsman of the Year.....hey how about Sportsman of the decade!!!!!

Is this a Brett Favre-appriciation thread, or a discussion thread about him being named Sportsman of the Year? I'll take it as the latter and say that ... I like Brett Favre. How can you not? What he's doing, at his age, is phenomenal and it's great to see someone realize that they're not done playing at the highest level - it usually goes the other way. That being said, Favre isn't my Sportsman of the Year. Roger Federer is. Winning three of four Grand Slams and reaching the final of the last and leading the world rankings for every week of the year is a massive achievement in such a competitive sport, and his charitable work isn't any less than Favre's.

Well actually you're right I did mean for it to be a discussion on him being named Sportsman of the Year....I guess I was just expressing my appreciation for him! Anyways yes I want to know who thinks he deserves it or not etc....

I totally think Favre deserved it. I'm very glad that he got it. I loved the article SI did on him. It was a very good read.

Thanks for starting this discussion thread here about his award.

I personally, feel Brett deserved just with how far he and the Packers came this past year. A belated congrats to him!

MissMonroe you are probably right about Michael Phelps being the best swimmer out there right now.

Oh I like that name! Cali! Yes definently Michael is great. I just think there is a better reason they gave it to Brett.

Yeah, me too.

Mike deserves his props for his talent in swimming, though.

Wow I open my mouth and say I think he'll be back, then he goes and retires!

His press conference was so sad. It was really touching. I agreed with everything he said. At least he is going out on top. I was crying throughout the entire thing. He will truly be missed.
