Hey, I'm a big fan of Canadian Olympic Diver Alexandre Despatie.

He is such a great diver. And he looks good in a speedo too.

Ain't he hot!

I particularly like his 10m platform dives.

Isn't his pike lovely?

Hey there!

I'm a fan of Despatie. I don't avidly follow his stuff, but whenever there are competitions on tv, I'll sit down and watch.. and cheer if he's there! :) I think he's an awesome diver. I was very proud of him at last years Olympics. :D

I was in Montreal for the diving finals. It was ELECTRIFYING! I've been a big fan of Alexandre Despatie, even before he started winning world titles. I grew up following his career and it was magic seeing him win his world title at the 3m springboard on Tuesday. I took a few pictures (from afar though) which I will post later on. The audience was the loudest I had ever experienced. I even met Despatie's parents! They're very nice and very heartwarming people. I'm just sad that I couldn't find him on the site after that to get an autograph but I'll always remember this trip.

Proud of him. :glow:

OMG YOU MET HIS PARENTS!!!!!!

I so wish I was you.

How much were your tickets? Pretty expensive eh?

You are so lucky. I'm so jealous!!!

Actually, I met his parents when we exited the pool at the end of the men's 10m platform final (even though Alexandre didn't compete in that category). It was their last day on the site and I told them to congratulate Alexandre for his wins on behalf of the people of Gatineau (which is where I come from). They're very nice: they're like any proud parents who like to see their children compete in sports. You also couldn't miss them: one of them was wearing a McDonalds T-shirt, one of Alexandre's main sponsors.

This is the first picture I took of Alexandre at the medal ceremony. As you can see, I'm a bit far from the podium. I circled Alexandre in green just to make sure you'd find him.

And here's the most I could get, enhancing the picture with my scanner.

OMG Those are amazing. Thanks for sharing

Cathangel I absolutely love your avie :thud:

Cathangel 08-05-2005 01:25 PM

And I love yours too. I loved Troi & Riker and I'm glad they got the happy ending in the end. I never understood why they put Troi with Worf for a while either.

But back on topic, I'm glad that you like the photos even though I'm now kicking myself for not going down the staircases to get a more detailed photo of him.

BUT, the french channel RDI made a montage of the competitions and among the images, you can see one when Alexandre is turning in our direction and waving at us and there's another image of the crowd in which I found myself! Ain't that cool?

Dingbat 08-08-2005 06:24 PM

I don't get that channel. Dang!

Cathangel are you french? I've been trying to translate your avie, but my french is a little rusty.

Cathangel 08-09-2005 10:46 PM

Yes, I'm French Canadian.

My avie says 'You have wings and you fly.' It's the phrase I kept repeating to myself everytime Alexandre was going to dive. I like to think that this phrase acted like a good luck charm. :)

And just like I was trying to bring Alexandre some luck, I jinxed his competitors, especially the american diver Troy Dumais. I think it worked just fine.

This has got to be one of my fav AD pics ever.

You're right, he's so pretty in that picture! :sigh: But as far as I'm concerned, I don't have a favourite picture of him. Yet.

MsPerfectionist 04-17-2006 09:33 PM

wow I didn't know there was a thread on him hehe.

Well he did well at the Commonwealth Games:

GOLD - Men's 1m Springboard
GOLD - Men's 3m Springboard
