Standout Moments for Bellamy

SEASON 1:



"WE ARE GROUNDERS" SPEECH (1x12)

I thought about going with something from Day Trip, but I ended up going with this instead,
just because it was the first thing that came to mind. I know Day Trip is the biggest Bellamy
episode of season one, and quite possibly of the whole series, but his character is front and
center for this episode, too, and damn, this speech is some great stuff. I don't even know
if I actually agree with what he's saying or not, but just the way he says it is so passionate
and determined that I find myself just nodding and saying, "Yes. Yes." Plus, that scratchy
voice, whether Bob did it intentionally or whether it just manifested as a result of filming
the hanging scene between Bellamy and Murphy, is absolutely everything, you guys.

SEASON 2:



BELLAMY IN MOUNT WEATHER (2x11)

Oh man, I remember seeing the preview for this episode while watching the Vampire Diaries,
and I remembered liking Bellamy from the first two episodes, despite his douche-baggery, so I
wondered what the heck he'd gotten himself into here and what they were doing with him.
This opening is my favorite opening ever for an episode, and it sets the stage for one of my
favorite episodes from the second season in general. Coup de Grace is so underrated, I can't even.
This opening makes you genuinely fear for Bellamy and wonder how the hell he's gonna pull this
off. It's a glimpse into what will be his most badass, action-packed storyline of the series.
All in all, it's epic, iconic, brutal, and sticks with you When I think of season two, I think of this.

SEASON 3:



ATTEMPTING TO RESCUE CLARKE (3x02)

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think there are actually a lot of really great Bellamy
moments in season three, anchored by Bob's acting. He really does a great job with some, ahem,
shall we say, challenging material. But because the character was not making the best decisions
in season three, I find that his moments that stand out to me the most are the ones that involve
either Clarke or Octavia. And I'm going to go with this moment, just slightly edging out the 3x05
Bellakre argument, because it's from the episode that made me a shipper and such a huge fan
of the show, and it's still my favorite Bellarke moment of all time. Bellamy was recklessly brave
and very heroic here, and I really think this failure to save Clarke, amplified by the failure to save
poor Gina one episode later, is one the catalysts for his misguided attempt to "save" his people
by following Pike and launching such an anti-grounder mentality upon Arkadia. Not an excuse.

SEASON 4:



OPENING THE BUNKER DOOR (4x11)

Choosing a standout moment for Bellamy in season four, to me, is like choosing a favorite student.
It's impossible, but not really impossible, because you have that one that just jumps out at you.
This whole episode was such an MVP episode for Bellamy. I was rooting him on the whole time,
even though I understood the logic of not opening the door. I wanted him to do it, knew he would.
Like Octavia, I knew he would come through. The bunker door scene gave us an angsty Bellarke
moment, and then we got quite possibly the sweetest Blake siblings moment right after, because,
seriously, his voice when he tells her, "I love you so much," is just so heartfelt and adorable.
I like that this moment is still a grey area, though. Yes, by opening that door, he saved his sister
and he saved Kane, and ultimately, more lives are saved because of this. But he still basically
condemned others (like Murphy and Emori) to die, which Murphy points out in the next episode.
