That would be good, but I could also live with one who's not. i mean I loved deanoru and clexa despite the actresses not being (openly at least) part of the lgbt community. But yes overal they should go for an actress who is. For represention and bc she'd better understand the society issues (like discrimination) related to it.

I see what you mean and if the actresses are doing a great job, I don't care what they are doing in real life/what sexuality they have. I mean surely it's nicer for representation, but then again it's a role you play and you better choose the best actor for this role talent wise.

I think the issue with having a character that possesses very specific identities and wanting to cast someone with those same identities is finding someone that fits the bill but is also a good actress.

It's not hard to find a good actress/actor who is LGBT+, most of the time they just don't even try. Usually, roles go to straight cis people, so it's important to cast somebody who isn't. And it's rather easy to say you don't care about their identity/sexuality if you aren't part of the community yourself because you're always represented.

Some fans already found a near perfect candidate. She's a better actress than ruby (I saw her on krypton), she's also lesbian or bi (not sure) and looks like a mix of ruby rose and cara delevingne, so it would be a sort of smooth transition.
